Hi ,

3 Months Back I bought MAruti Esteem 2005 VXI model & it is genuine 40000 KM run till nw.

Few days after purchasing I feel some Smell of petrol specially when I on my AC Blower.

I had shown to mechanic he check the engine & found no issue in it.

Then I had shown to Ac wala , he told me tht Temprature in delhi si too high so in Fuel Tank Gas pressure increase in summer. So AC Wala had removed the small rubber from Fuel Cap. He said now ur tank is not air tight & pressure will be released

After that i didn't face this problem.

Now I am running this car from 3 month & I never get a mileage more than 10 KM / Litre. Even in High Way Driving with Ac on still I am getting 10 KM / Litre

Every one told me tht car doesn't give this much mileage.

Please suggest me what should i need to do as i am very dissappointed with its mileage

Apparently now the petrol is evaporating right out of the tank itself! Could you elaborate on what the 'AC Wala' did?

By the way, what was the mileage you derived earlier?

Hi Pankaj & Binoy ,

I didn't notice the mileage earlier as I bought this car 3 month back & after few days I feel petrol smell when I on AC & Blower.

So they remove small rubber Cap from Petrol Tank Cap. After tht I didn't face this problem.

Generally Esteem returns mileage of 10-11 in city & 14-16 on highway.  You are deriving the same mileage in city as well as highway (10).  The same is too less for highway.  Please get it thoroughly checked.

Hope you are measuring the mileage correctly - tank full to tank full method (dividing the kms done between the 2 tank fulls by no. of liters filled).
