Thats totally true - Honda has better / sturdier build when compared to esteem.

However, our Wallet also needs better / sturdier Build to maintain the better / sturdier build Car.

Better expend the additional amount on family / travel than maintain the car.... hehe..

now that will depend from person to person . Many people have sturdy enough wallets to go in even for the highly priced premium hatch - jazz. so many others might also be there who can go in for other sturdier /better carsLaughing

Raju has bought a car.  He just mentioned that it happens to be faster than Honda (he hasn't bought it because of that reason).  And the statement stands true.

No issues Pankaj. I mentioned about the built quality of the city to relate it with the esteem being faster than the city. Nothing else. The source that you gave in your previous post also points to the same thing (esteem-875 and city-1055). Believe me, but what ever i said was with no intention to offend any one.

Dont mind: What does the built have to do with the car being faster. I am being curious over there.

I sincerely understand Centaur.  My point is that it would unnecessarily lead to discussion/comparison - not required - this being a buying experience/review Smile

Edit: Like Ami's post herein above - didn't notice that while I was typing/posting mine.

PS: No offence meant - Centaur & Ami.

Centaur, just read you reply in the light of what I had mentioned and think what you feel about your sentence.

Being a Chartered Accountant, and in Finance line, these decisions are taken by deep thoughts and rationals rather than heart/hobbies.

As you correctly said, depends on person to person, exatly not only on the wallets.

I may be capable to buy a NHC outright, but my dear friend's Bank  (SBI) is providing finance at 8% - so will take a decision to go for a loan rather than outright purchase. Now an layman will make an outright purchase - a person in finance will think to employ his own funds to earn 15-20% and go for a loan of 8% - in the process earning 7-12% (net yearly)of the loan on investments.

I agree that there will be people who have strong enough wallets (and who will expend on the car) - but what I had said that instead of expending on the car, I (I specify here that me) will better expend the same amount on travel rather than the car.

After all I look at the car as a car, not as a second home.

Rather looking at the car as a second home, I will think in the direction of really making (buying) of second home (real estate).

Again, these perceptions depend on person to person - these are my thoughts.

No offence to anyone - nothing against anyone.

Raju,

Centaur commented on build-quality/weight basically on my confirming your statement that Esteem is faster than Honda (0-100).  That somehow led to discussion on pocket/preferences (out of context here), and therefore I intervened.  He in no way meant that your decision isn't right (I know all the regular members quite well).

We all regard your decision.  It’s quite a prudent one - given the nature (hectic touring) of your work (abroad).  Had you been stationed in Mumbai & were to use your car regularly, you would have considered a new/better one (obviously).

As we all know, Esteem, not very long ago, was considered to be a premium car – most of the organizations provided chauffeur driven Esteems to their top executives (our bank earlier had 6 white Esteems for 6 GMs).

You have struck a very good deal - looking to the pricing & condition of the car.  Please keep writing & keep the thread live with your experiences with Esteem.

Happy to know  cw has another esteem owner
85bhp and a kerb weight of just about a tonne makes it a really fast car... even when compared to newer, pricier cars...

a bit OT:  i was shocked to hear that the new Jazz lacks a tachometer.... its a shame if its true, even the humble(now) Esteem sports one..
