Good to know that the issue is resolved.

GIMP and Photoscape are good free software to do basic editing.

The 'kit' has a bag(quite good), a book and a membership card i guess.

By the way i invested in a flash-did not go for Nikon as the same was quite expensive

How much for the flash?

Do you feel the difference in the images after taken with new flash. esp. indoor shots?

Difference is massive!!

-will post pictures soon, with camera flash and hotshoe flash comparison.

I bought a Nissin Di622, its available for Canon also. Cost is 7.2K at Cochin.

The equivalent Canon 480 speedlite will cost double the amount!(i guess-the Nikon equivalent SB600 does).

Here is the comparison:

This is taken in a poorly lighted room with flourescent light and the Camera's pop up flash.

This is taken just after(same lighting condition), with the Nissin Di622 flash with the flash head bounced to the ceiling.

I guess the pictures speak more than 2K words! Very happy with the flash.

Indeed they have!!!!

However there are lots of times where I have seen the flash screw up the photo. (I guess it is a major issue with P&S cameras in auto flash mode). I must learn on when to use the flash and when not to.

OT: Is that you? (I seriously think that it is you)

OT: Both are him Wink

Correct use of flash is very important (not that I'm an expert - lol).  I have experienced that on a few occasions.

Good flash will do great job especially for indoor shots as well as night photography like wildlife; you can see good flashes with wedding photographers.

In out door photography flash is used mainly in close up or macro shots.

Last day I received the canon edge kit. I had one camera bag, photography guide and a membership card (Binoy was correct). The bag is really useful and the book is informative.

The free training programmes available with the card are available only in metros. So not that useful for me unless it coincides with any of my visits there.

I think it would be nice to share some special photographic and editing techniques among ourselves. Even if these are known to some those who are not aware of these will benefit ( I am expecting other good photographers to reveal more).

The source of these are internet and books.

First one. Writing or drawing using light.

These are examples of photographs taken by me using this technique..

I have reduced the size of the image for easy upload.. Another one..that's my name itself.

When I posted the latter image in my orkut profile, some of the fellow members have queried about the technique, so I am sure many are curious to know the technique.
