@Kartik: Nice start pal.

The particular mode that you are referring to is called the 'Macro' mode. You use it for taking close-up shots of insects, flowerers etc.

On your camera you will find a 'flower' icon, just activate that option. Then take as many pics as you want.

I guess it should be on the left of the circular dial. (If I am not wrong)

Thanks Guys,

@Karthik: Taking a macro shot is easy, follow the steps

1. Put the camera in Macro mode

2. Keep the camera as near to the subject.

3. Zoom so that the subject fill the entire frame and make sure the subject is in sharp focus (some time the background will be in focus when u go near ) and it should be in the part of frame.

then take the shot. The reason I ask you to go near and zoom will make the background blurr and the subject will pop out of the frame..

happy clicking

Lighiting is critical to any photograph especially one in which the aperture is stopped down to max(as in a 'macro mode). Use the fill flash to get better results.

News from the d-SLR world.

There has been a new launch:

Nikon D3000 and the Nikon D300s.

The former is a replacement for the D60 and the latter for the D300s. In terms of spec both cameras does not break new ground.

Camera manufacturers continues this practice of hood winking customers. They fill the old wine in new bottles..By simply adding some zeroes to the old version..

Same is the case with Canon. Instead of EOS 350 and 400D they launched 1000D with many features down graded from 400D.

@Binoy.. Lucky to have your sis at US. I spent 30k for Canon EOS 1000D here. Sad news for me is that the price was cut by 3k from this month. It is strange that Japan products are sold at such a huge price difference in U.S and India. Is there no tax for Digi cams in U.S? Or does Nikon and Canon have different price strategy for India and U.S?

All I have is the kit lens (18-55mm) that came with the camera body. I plan to acquire a macro lens. I got a 25 year old Topman tripod from my wife's house. It is enough for my present needs.

The stitching done by Binoy and Pankaj are amazing. I tried to stich some land scapes but due to light difference could not get a satisfactory output.

Which software do you use for panorama stiching?

Regarding me... to tell you the fact (don't tell others Wink) - I didn't do any stitiching & all that - just selected the panorama option & clicked thrice - rest my Mob Camera did.  Those however suffered from bad light effect (had forgotten to adjust light/brightness) - here are those 'fixed' (old & new)...

I'm learning - just started Smile
