I dont understand, why this 7D is more than double the price for Canon 500D. Can you please explain their difference. Also give your personal opinion on 500D. I will buy it the next year as its out of my budget for now.

On paper the specs between the two are not that different compared to price difference.

But the 7D is made to demanding standards has a weather sealed magnesium body(compared to the mostly plastic 500D). Moreover the 7D has a newer auto focus system/uprated metering/penta prism full coverage view finder and new shutter mechanism.

The 500D is an excellent entry level camera better than the Nikon offering in that price segment(like the D5000).

Before deciding on the camera do get to a store and hold the same in your hand, from a personal view point how the camera feels in ones hand is of prime importance. Both systems will give excellent image quality no matter what the model.

Keep us updated on what you choose in the end.

Canon reinvents the D-SLR !!

This is the Canon Nova and is just a concept!

Personally the concept is totally flawed !

The idea is great-the problem is in the handling, attach a large aperture lens on it and the balance of the whole setup would go for a toss.

The concept also seems to lack a tripod adapter.
