As i was going through the posts in the 'Buying Digital camera' thread i chanced upon the post of our dear fellow memeber Feroz here. After going through the pictures posted in the link i realised that we should have a separate thread on D-SLR.

Feroz and i share quite a few things in common-

-both are from kerala

-both drive the same car

-both have similarly aged daughters

-and apparently both share a passion for photography(he is much better, that i can see from the pictures!).

Now i have come by a DSLR in the past month and have been making efforts to take atleast a single picture that is half decent.

The gear that i have now is a Nikon D60 with 18-105VR lens and a Velbon C600 tripod.

Do have a look at some of my initial efforts and do post your comments.

That was a great comparison. I am honoured being compared with you and having such similarities.

And the photos you have taken make me humble.. Really lovely..

My favourite is that of kids jumbing.. Boundless fun..

Expecting more..

I waited to capture solar  eclipse in the morning, but the rain and clouds spoiled it..

Doctore.....Gochu kalla.....

Amazing is the smallest word I can give for the photos. I am speechless. You have a keen eye on frame selection.

Thanks a lot for sharing the pics.....

@Feroz thanks for the kind words, are you on Flikr?

@Kartik-yes these are initial efforts(this is my first dSLR)-if at all you see some merit in the photos-that because of the camera.

@Pankaj-thanks for the appreciation and support as always!

@Muthu-saw your photostream-i stand in ovation! Total respect-what gear do you use?(the EOS XT is obvious)

@Ami-thanks for the compliments, thats a fun page that you have on Flikr.

To move this thread along, am planning to get a prime(35mm 1.8) or some other accessories like a vertical grip, can anyone throw some suggestions.
