Here @ Chembur, sales person is not forcing me for any financer but suggesting for SBI or Axis or HDFC. Axis has low approval time with ROI 11.50%. Where as 'Fortune cars' which is near to my house is providing me ROI 10%. I am not in hurry but SBI ezee loan scheme is valid till 30th Sep 09 only so looking at approval period, planning to apply in the next month. Actually I am waiting for some IMP documents to get ready for the loan process. I am ready to wait for 8-9 working days for approval, is this maximum time that SBI takes?

10 working days max is what the dealer and the SBI guy who had come to pick up my papers told me. Take your time to decide.

Hi All,

Sorry, posting after long time, as I was on vacation.

Last saturday I went to Wasan Motors for TD and to clear some doubts. I got very satisfactory response from their sales person as well as technical staff against my queries. Since I have zeroed to Vista TDI, but for TD it was available. So I took a short TD of Vista QJD top model.

Following are my observations:

Engine: Very silent engine compare to TDI. However engine noise is still noticeable in cabin with windows UP and AC off. I felt the QJD engine is still noisy when compare to Swift DDIS.

AC: Well, here I got disappointed. I kept AC ON at high for 5-6 mins still it was not cooling properly. Even the outside temperature was low with slightly rain at 2 pm. Finally I found the reason under bonnet that is "BHER" make AC. I asked sales person about model make date, but he was unable to provide. However now I am practically confirmed that there are problems with BHER make AC(s). Also I saw that one customer taking his delivery of Indica XETA LPG and  surprised to see it was fitted with BHER AC.

Drive: I must say that you will truly feel like driving a big sedan. I am very much impressed with this quality. Pulling power is just awesome. I enjoyed very well.

Following are my cleared technical doubts regarding Vista TDI.

Engine Idling: This quite important part while handling the turbo engine. You must keep the engine at idle speed for at least 1-2 mins at morning and before parking at day end. Regarding turning off the engine in heavy traffic, while resuming you doesn't require the idling task. This requires only when your TDI engine is off say for 5-6 hours. Actually lubricant inside the engine takes time to spread so enough idling is necessary.

Turbo Lag: In older turbo engines, turbo lag gets activated within 1.9 and 2.9 RPM only. And this causes the car sluggish at initial pickup. However new engine in Vista TDI, turbo starts compressing air right from 1k rpm and you'll get full boost at 1.8k rpm. But this boost is limited till 3k rpm only. A valve gets opened above 3k rmp to avoid damage to engine due to extensive pressure generated by turbo charger and here turbo lag gets end. But this is exceptional because when you are in fifth gear and touching 3k rpm you will be at speed of 135+ which not continues at Indian roads.

Steering & Breaks: In Vista both are hydraulic and power assisted respectively. And both are engine dependent. Since the steering is HPS, it gets additional pressure from engine and allows driver to feel it smooth. Breaks also gets additional power from engine, results soft breaking. Power assisted breaks gets additional pressure from vacuum pump which is connected with engine belt.

So all this working good only when your engine is ON. So guys never move your car especially on slope without engine ON otherwise both will gets harder.

Low pickup in hot environment: Since the turbo charger sucks and compress the air but during compress task air gets pretty hot. So in hot environment compressed air going engine compartment gets quite hotter and affects the performance.

Fuel Additives: For TDI engine, System D is recommended. You can use normal diesel with system D. Every after three tank full. However premium diesel is not recommended as there is some chemical value change. (Tech guy also not sure about which one, but sure that it's not recommended)

Ranjit,

Well written review.

I took delivery of Vista TDi on 23th Aug. I presume I have subros compressor as all the AC pipes have a green subros sticker. Where do we see the Compressor if we actually need to see. Also i felt that the AC was good as it made us comfortable at blower speed 2 in afternoon heat. The only problem I felt was about the Pickup. Sometimes its sluggish and sometimes the car zooms off. Wonder if this is because of my driving style. I have been driving petrol cars all these years.

Thanks,

Manoj

Thanks Manoj.

I told them one of my friend (Manoj Thakare) got TD for TDI model from their borivali branch. So after this they assured me for the same in this week.

When you open your car's bonnet, try to see through the gap of bonnet lock. I found a sticker at left hand side, near lock.

Do you follow the idling task? (It allows engine to warm up at operating temperature) or try to differentiate the pickup with AC on/off.

Thanks,

Will def check what comp I have. I do idle the engine for a minute before starting and at the end.

For pickup what I meant was when I engage 2nd gear and do not press the accelerator the car goes ahead at a certain speed. This speed varies on different occasions. sometimes its slow and sometimes its fast. There was no uphill or anything, I have noticed this on plain roads.

The name of the sales guy is Noor Tamboli at Borivali office. Do take a TD in TDi before booking.

Hi, Considering your monthly running, petrol car makes the sence. i10 sportz and vista safire aura are having equal equipments. vista has seat steering adjustments and lumbar support. Vista is somewhat underpowered and interiors are not as good as i10. But space and suspension are vistas forte. It is really big small car. If you intend to drive in city freequently then i10 is good option, otherwise think about vista.

Thanks Vidyadhar. I chosen the diesel car considering my future usage may increase with time compare to current. And now days, diesel engines are more refined and equal to petrol. Also they are always economic to run.
