TDI is still a car to be considered although it is slightly inferior to QJD. One must also not forget the fact that the engine has been around for quite a while now.

Diesel would be wise if you drive more than 800-1000 kms a month economically. However, if you can afford it, I would say that is a good option.

I second Ami here, difference is not much between TDi & Safire and if you can stretch than TDi is better option (low running cost). TDi is old technology but trusted too. I would like to add one more point, whenever you will upgrade, you will get better resale from Vista TDi, this is another point to consider.

People dont change when you tell them that there is a Better option... They change when they realise that there is No Other Option..

to add TDi will be more noisy compared to the petrol/QJD variant.

Why break rules when following them is much easier!!!

So here I can pick the TDI if I couldn't able to stretch my budget for QJD. Also I would like to know whether my following thinking is correct or not?

"When there are two cars one prtrol & another diesel in same segment with marginal cost difference, better to go for diesel even for low usage. Becouse they has low running cost compare to petrol"

It takes less time to do things right than to explain why you did it wrong.

Diesel engines are always noisy compare to petrol. But if I am correct... I feel TDI would be enough if I couldn't stretch my budget for QJD. Will the doing regular / good maintenanace can help to keep the TDI noise level at minimum?

That statement is correct provided you like all the cars and their correspoding features.

Two of my neighbours have Indica V2 Diesel. Whenever they move from society road, noise of engine creeps into our home. If we are on the road or out in the compound, we can hear a loud noice of engine. Personally I don't like this nature of engine and that's why I m too biased against the Vista TDi. I know that the insulation of Vista is notch better than Indica V2, but this nature of engine is irritating. The noise level increases with the usage of car. Though you will not hear much noise in Vista's cabin, you have to get used to it.

Your logic of buying Vista TDi against I-10 kappa is good if you want space and economy both at the cost of peace of mind. Also check the features in all the cars/versions, as Tdi does not have Aura version, which has good list of features. So if you have to compromise on few features, you have to put the value of that features while comparing different cars. All the best.

Bhavin, there's a difference in Indica V2 (non-turbo) & Vista TDi (turbo).  Had the 2 cars in your neighborhood been Indica Turbo or Vista TDi (turbo), you would not have felt so. Or to say, you would not feel so if you drive or sit in my car Wink It, however, also depends upon maintenance & care we take (obviously).

Quadrajet is undisputedly better than TDi.  The difference in the engine noise of the two is apparent more while idling.

Dangre, nothing like QJD if you can stretch your budget - if not, there is no harm in going for TDi.  I would recommend that ahead of Vista Safire or any other having marginal difference in the pricing, and for the fact that diesel is more fuel efficient & economical (also stated by you & others).

As per my information TDI has some sort of vibration (Increases more with time). So does this vibration affects the entire engine's life? (Increasing NVH level)

Thanks.

Not completely true. Take a TD of the TDi and QJD one after the other and you will notice the difference.
