Please help me for buying first car. My AVG. monthly running is 700 KM including 30% on highways. I have shortlisted following cars.

1. Vista TDI Aqua

2. Vista Safire Aqua

3. i10 1.2

Please suggest the good choice.

Thanks,

Deepak

For 700 kms a month of usage, the i10 is the best bet. You can plainly rule out diesel cars as the usage is on the lower side.

Vista TDI hence can be ruled out.

When comparing i10 to Vista Saphire, Vista Saphire is going to be a bit sluggish and is going to be slightly expensive to maintain - the resale value is also not going to be as much as i10. It has one thing which is lavishly provided in Vista and that is Space. i10 scores on all aspects over Vista but for space.

K Prasad

Thanks Prasad.

The reason for listing TDI is, its in same price of i10 1.2. Also its diesel, so I think it will be an economic for running over i10. I know i10 is best but when diesel car is available in same price, it made me to take in to list. Also what is the mileage for Vista (both models) and i10 1.2?

go for i10 1.2. Your run does not warrant for a diesel. I10 has the advantage of better ASS when compared to the vista. Vista will be good on space but i10 will be an overall winner among the two. Have a look at this comparision.

EDIT:- the vista diesel will be the same price as the i10 but you do not have such a high run that you can go in for the diesel.

Regarding my monthly running, it may increase in future. So I am concern about that too.

if you intend to keep the car for long then you could consider the diesel. Generally diesel cars are prefered when you have a good monthly run (around 1000kms). This is so that the extra investment that you put in while buying a diesel car over its petrol counterpart and the higher maintenance cost (diesel has 10-15% more maintenance than petrol cars) be recovered. If you intend to keep the car for a long time frame and are sure that you would have similar running then you could consider a diesel. In that case better opt for quadrajet than the TDi.

According to my budget TDI Aqua is in pocket. So then still I need to think about QJD? As per my info. its costlier than TDI by 50 - 60K. TDI is not enough / good car?

Deepak

TDI engine is good and a proven one. It was present in Indigo Turbo and currently available in Indigo.

QJD just happens to be better. That is about it.

In short neither is bad. I would say drive both and pick the one that you like.

So I assume both engines are good enough. What is a difference in all aspects that QJD made better than TDI? How are both engines maintenance wise, spare availability, repair cost etc..?

All the above mentioned aspects are more or less the same.

QJD performs better.
