yestraday myself alony with my father and uncle started from trichy to chennai in maruti alto at around 5:10pm. the work of the four lane was in progress so i could not go beyond 80kmph. after crossing 15km from trichy the four lane started. the road was very beautiful, its just like a foriegn road thanks to the GMR infrastructure.

at one point of time the car speedometer started crusing beyond 120kmph and reached a maximum of 135kmph. except a swift i hane overtaken all the cars(elantra, city, safari, indica, sumo, innova etc) i have reached chennai by 8:50pm.

the trip was so enjoyable.

Alto has very decent performance for its size/power.

By the way, please don't mind... it's not safe to drive such a small car beyond a max. of 90-100 in any case Smile

If you have clicked some photos of your car, journey, places visited etc. please share/upload - CW Album.

Thanks.

Nice pics buddy.

Alto is a nice car to drive on the highways. Responsive engine and well planted.

The steering is light and the AC is decent.

I've made trips on the car from bangalore to kerala lots of times.

Based on your comments, I am tempted to visit Trichy during my next trip to Chennai. Hopefully the highway construction gets completed before that to enjoy the full drive. Thanks for sharing this info Arun ! Nanri...ella pughazhum GMR Infrastructure Ltd ukke....  (Translation: Thanks, All credit goes to GMR Infrastructure Ltd)

Hi Arun

Can you help me out by providing the route from Chennai to Trichy?? I'm planning for a Chennai-Trichy trip shortly. Also, what is the distance by road from chennai to trichy and also, how much of four-lanning is complete?

Thanks in advance

hi anandh

the distance between chennai to trichy is about 325 kms. the route is tambaram(it is last part of chennai)- marimalai nagar-chengalpat- melmaruvathur-tindivanam-villupuram-ulundurpet-veppur-samayapuram-trichy.

they have laid four lane for more than 300-305 kms. from samayapuram its single road. from their you will be travelling in single road that too with pit holes. from samayapuram, trichy is around 20 and odd kms.

bye
