Hi,

I want to shift my Honda Activa (Purchased in Jan 2008) from B'lore to Hyd. Now the issue is my chasis number has got rusted. So i am not able to take the pencil imprint in a paper. Now in form 28 u have to take a pencil imprint of chasis number

Do let me know how should i approch for my NOC. Does it make sense to take my vehichle to RTO and show the officials the condition. or approach an agent. Agents ask for Rs 1300--1500...

Plz help me out

In any case you will have to take the vehicle to the RTO for NOC.

Though I don't know the details, but I think the rust can be removed.

Hi Sandy, I went through this entire process by myself 5 months ago. Don't bother about the rust. Just keep a paper and take the imprint or take your bike to the nearest Honda service center and seek his help for taking the chassis imprint. Above all RTO guys will not be looking into it. They will be happy as long as they get their share of money from you.

But it's in the interest of Sandy to ensure that the chassis number is correctly imprinted/recorded in the RTO.

No doubt about it, its in the interest of Sandy to get the proper imprint. At the same time, RTO will not go only with the imprint. They will check the RC book for chassis number, Insurance copy for chassis number. Above all, physical examination would be conducted by RTO people to confirm the chassis number of the vehicle. So, there is nothing to worry in this regard.

HI Pankaj/Sairam,

Appreciate your response...well I had gone to RTO office 2 days back and just when thru typical Govt process...Was feeling like to football which was kicked here and there...Met with atleast 4-5 officials and asked them to check my vehiclle so that they would understand what i meant... but just got the response that chasis number is a must...well  is I went to almost 5 mechnics but nobody could get the imprint..

I actually when to my Honda service station and they said they can reprint the chasis number for 250 bucks...I am not sure if that can be helpful..

I guess the last resort i have is to go thru an agent...

(I also heard that incase u dont want to change ur number in other state, u can pay Road Tax and drive your vehicle without an NOC. But in that case I can drive only for one year and then I will have to take NOC anyhow..YOur comments)

That's true but a temp. solution in your case. You will be somehow getting it re-registered after a year - then why not now itself.

Sandy, trust me. This is not worthwhile to waste your valuable time. Sell your vehicle in bangalore and buy a new one in Hyd. These jokers in government office will treat us badly and directly rub our ego, which we won't be able to take.

Its better to incur the loss by selling it in Blr and buying a new one Hyd. Above all, if you pay the road tax and drive, then also the cops would stop and question you many times. Its mere waste of time and money.

Well, its my suggestion...You can think about it. But I was affected by this during 26/11 as cops started to harrass all other state vehicle owners in Pune and started milking them. So, you never know what's going to happen and its better to drive AP in hyderabad instead of driving a KA vehicle with road tax receipt...Think

If the taxes are paid & the vehicles re-registered, I don't think there should be any problem under any circumstances.

Selling-off & buying a new vehicle will obviously not be a fruitful proposition.
