Contrary to what the subject line might imply, I just love the Punto.  True the drive is not as perky as the Swift, but the extra investment appears to be worth it!  I am considering buying either the Swfit ZXI or the Grande Punto Emotion Pack--I can't afford the Honda Jazz!

My question is will buying a Fiat be a risky proposition?  As in, I am ok with ASS being a bit more expensive that the Maruti, as long as I receive the right ASS.  I have read some horror stories about ASS at Skoda and don't want to face the same with a Fiat! What's your opinion? (Especially Fiat owners, what has your experience been?)

Who know after 5 yrs. If you like the car I will suggest u to buy. Nothing else. What if MSIL stop producing the Age old SWIFT ? Nothing can be predicted. What if TATA-FIAT eat 20-30% of market in next 5 yrs. ;)

Fiat seems to be committed to India - further with the Tata - Fiat Joint Venture, all seems fine.

Tata will provide good ASS for fiat cars as they are also beneficiary of Fiat Technology/engines in their Cars.

So go ahead and enjoy your punto.

Its the best VFM car available now.

You are all already convinced that GP is better buy over Swift. So you do not need to really worry about ASS as Tata-Fiat joint venture is already showing signs of improvement – and things are only going to improve.

So I do not think any risk as such.

if you intend to keep it for 5 years resale would not be a big botheration even if Fiat is going great guns then. Fiat seems to be very keen on retrieving its Indian market and its coming on with great force in that direction. 2 new launches in such a short time that too in a market where it doesnt have a huge market (except for meager sales of Palio). So do not worry about the future after 5 years if you actually love the car. better go in for it.

Hello!

I am confused between GM Imotion and DZire VXI. I know this is two different comparison, but I like the killing look and front seat conforts and arrangements in Grand Punto. But the space in rear is a question mark. I think 3 people in the rear wont be comfortable.

Can someone suggest, what should I do. It hardly matters for me between a sedan and hatchback. DZire appears to be ahead in race for overall features, but somehow, it is a big compromise on looks.

Maruti has better ASS when compared to FIAT but FIAT ASS also has considerably improved these days. Maintenance would not be high for Maruti and FIAT as such. GP is more spacious than the Dzire. Rear row is more comfortable. Power is also marginally more for the Punto when compared to the dzire. Punto Emotion comes with ABS, rear defogger and steering adjustment as additional features over the dzire. I would suggest you to go in for the Punto unless you have a specific requirement for a sedan. Take a test drive and then decide. Also have a look at this comparision.
