Hello, Am interested in purchasing the Fiat Petra & would like to know how feasible it would be, now that TATA motors would be taking care of the marketing & sales of FIAT cars. Also, could you give me a list of standard equipment that comes along with the Petra 1.9 Thank you, Manish Bhangle.

Hello Manish, I know that Fiat cars are always under-rated in India. Its Palio is one of the best car in small-segment, but no one gives a damn to it. Petra too is a good car and is better than most in its class. But if you ask me to buy a Fiat, I too will show you a little reluctance. Reason, the same as the others have. It has trouble with service centers, spares and above all the resale value. People looks at a used Fiat seller as he has committed a crime by buying it! I would suggest you to consider some other cars too in the same class. In this segment you have enough choices in terms of Indigo, City, Fiesta, Accent, Corsa, Ikon, Esteem, Baleno etc. If you are considering just diesels then Fiesta, Accent and Indigo can be good options And yes, you were considering Fiat's collaboration with Tata for Sales and Mktg? Apna apna hi hota hai Manish Ji :~) Who has seen the future? Anyways you asked about standard features? Petra comes with Power Steering, AC, Tachometer, Remote Fuel Lid opener, Remote Boot opener, Central Locking, Rear Windshield Defroster, Power Windows, Dashboard with Two Tone Colour Finish,Tinted Glass, so-called Fire Prevention System (FPS) and many more! I'm not saying that you don't buy a Petra, rather I am asking you "Why are you buying Petra?"

Hello sir, Really appreciate your prompt response. Though I am still inclined towards the FIAT PETRA (LOVEEEEEEEEE THE CAR !!!), I have to choose between the Esteem, Swift, or Getz. Am a bit relunctant on the Esteem cause of it's dated looks, the Swift is really nice, but the back seat sucks, so does the luggage space. The only one I thot that would fit my budget of 5 lakhs is the Getz. Am looking for a car that's cheap to maintain, good mileage, safe, & not so expensive, but over practical. I know you will suggest me to go for the Esteem, but I frankly won't enjoy driving the car. It feels too FLIMSY !!! Let me know what you think of the GETZ GVS.... Once again thank you for your time & patience, Regards, Manish.

Dear Manish, If you love Fiat Petra then you should go for buying it. One should respect his/her sense. Petra doesn't has any avoidable characteristics. Its a fantastic car and as I told u in my previous mail that it is one of the best car in its class. Petra's only problem is its Fiat tag!!! What made you think that I will suggest you Esteem? Believe me, I don't recommend Esteem until one is too attached to the car. Why Esteem while many better cars available. Its 2006 not 1998! Getz GVS is good car as well. Petra is Sedan and Getz is Compact! Don't you think, you are compromising with a Compact while a mid-sized sedan could be yours for almost same amount! View comparison of the two here: http://www.carwale.com/New/CarComparison.aspx?car1=409&car2=223 I have compared Petra 1.6 EL PS with Getz GVS. Both are identical in price. If you can afford another 40,000 bucks, Petra 1.6 ELX PS has many more features.
