I am reporting condition of my Safire @ 2500km+ drive.

1st service @ 1000k was just a general checkup. But they fooled me and made Rs. 500 by applying some coating to protect the engine area. Whatever...

Problems after 1st service:
- The horn fell down inside the bonnet.  The metal plate with which the horn was screwed just broke off. I had to re-fix it myself using another metal plate.

- The joint at the driver side door is making cracking noise when door is opened fully. The bolt has come lose.  I tightened it but no luck.  Will get it fixed on next service.

- The a/c blower has started making a low level grinding sound that can be heard at level 1 speed of the blower.  But its inaudible at level 2 n above.  Will get it checked thou.

Rest everything is smooth and I am happy with the performance.  I bought a wide rear view mirror for Rs. 150/- and its really good. The factory rear mirror is too small.

And I saw 4 Marine Slivers in my city last weekend... damn, I thought I was the only one who owned it.  One of the drivers with shiny silver alloys was acting as if he was driving a Mercedes... hah whatever!!  I was the first one to buy this color in my city

Mani, Thanks for putting up an update. Even I was fooled with this engine area lamination. It peels of slowly over a period of time. Take care of this small problems in 5k service. What is the mileage you are getting?

The last time I checked I got 10.38 with 80% a/c in city.  I have R14 wheels with alloys.

Did you hear about Vista Ignis?

I wish I could... but Aura is still true VFM to me and I am happy with it.

I will buy my next hatchback after 3 years or so.

Have the Tatas started marketing Indica Vista as Vista, as recently I remember to have seen an advt. quoting the car as Vista, which was not so earlier.

Generally it has always been referred more as 'Vista'.

Hi Mani,

I am interested in going for Vista Aura Safire with 14" alloys. But my dealer says that I will have to go for Vista+ if I want 14" rims as he cannot change factory installed rim sizes. Vista+ has 14" rims as standard while Vista has 13" rims. Wonder how you got to "upgrade" to 14" rims - pls. advice.

Another related question: Apart from asthetics, is their any technical advantage in going for 14" rims?

Cheers.
