Folks,

I have booked my Swift Dzire ZDI which is to atlast arrive this week. I am told that the audio system aint a great one and unfortunately as its integrated couldnt be changed.

Please advise if this is true and also if it is possible to upgrade to another music system.

thanks,

Diju

you can still upgrade your speakers. upgrade to 6.5" components in front, and move the front speakers to the back, or install new speakers there as well

yes, but you'll need to get a replacement dash kit ( the corresponding part of the base version swift) to install a regular car stereo. Most installers may not have this. It is available though. the swift OE HU has one pair of pre outs. You can use them along with a Y cable to run a 4 channel amplifier, but you'll lose fader control ( ie ability to set the front to back balance). This is the recommended option. alternately, you can use an amplifier with speaker level inputs.

I say a pair of 6.5 inch component speakers for the front, and 6.5" coax for the rear, and a 4 channel amp.

leave the Head unit swap for later

Thanks for quick response. I work in the middle east and would be going to India next month, therefore could you please help me with the below;

1) Buying the speakers / amp from here would be cheap for me or from India;

2) Which brand speakers / amp would you suggest (JBL,KenWood, Sony, Blaupunkt etc)?

thnx.

a pair of good 6.5" components cost around 5k onwards, 6.5" coax around 4k in india. a good 4 channel amp would be around 6k onwards.

I'm not sure about prices/availablity of stuff in the middle east, so cant comment

1) Gulf is cheaper. The current exchange rates and prices in Gulf wont give you much of an advantage. At max you will save 1-2k on the whole purchase because these will be entry level stuffs. Higher ones will give you more savings.

2) JBL/Blau speakers for entry level. Polk/Hertz/Illusion for next level.
