Hi, I am very confused after looking into options available and after discussion with so many people. Here I am comparing SANTRO- XL (at 3,36,000 with coloured bumpers) and Indica- XETA-GVS (at 2,90,000) (Approx. prices after negotiating with dealers). Now, whosoever I have spoken with has not given me any positive feed back on XETA. However, SANTRO is tried and tested, and so everyone is asking me to buy that car. My quetion to you would be: 1. Why I am not able to get confidence on the capabilities of XETA compared to SANTRO even though, nothing is less in XETA technically and feature wise also. Could it be because even till today TATA has not been able to change the mmindsets of people? 2. Please advise, if technically the car is fit and I can trust on it compared to SANTRO. If YES, I'd like to go against all the odds and will buy XETA. 3. One aprehension in mind is that XETA should not stop on a long trip. We already have one SANTRO and we know it is trust worthy. Can you tell me if this car runs smoothly and wouldn't let me down in future. 4. If technically the car is comparable to SANTRO, then why the price difference is so much and will be greater if we compare it with Maruti cars. 5. My heart wants me to buy this car but, on the same hand I can not afford to take any risks with my money. What if tomorrow after 6 months this car is not running properly and I want to sell it off. I will not be able to do so as this is not having re-sale value. Please guide me what to do in this scenario. The more I talk to people, the more I get confused as I have been recommended by everyone SANTRO and not XETA. Please revert back/ call me if more information is required. Thanks and regards...

Dear Raminder,

Your every question seems to have same answer. 'Nobody is sure, not even we!'

Tata Indica Xeta is very much capable and loaded car, no doubt. But the technology, components used are not of that quality. This results in very strange and unpredictable faults. There are people who are running their Indicas for years and have not faced a single problem so far but at the same there are people like this too who have problems from day one. So in essence, it won't be right to say that the problem lies in public mindset.

As we said in above paragraph that everything is so unpredictable that you really don't know what can happen and when. Maybe your apprehension can realize or maybe not. Sometimes long trip might be a small distance for this car and at other times it might not survive a few kilometers. Though, as of now majority of people are enjoying their Tatas but you really don't know if you are one of those few unlucky ones or not!

Don't talk to anyone, no one has an answer to any of your question.  Keep it simple. If you enjoy playing gamble, go for Xeta, if not, go for Santro Xing/Wagon R/Zen.
