Brilliant pricing/package.  Will surely give a tough time to many others.  Mileage I guess will more or less be in line with others in its segment/size.

Fiat came out with killer price for GP.  Most Swift buyers have to seriously consider GP as an option.  Anyway, Swift's two decade old engine will not be able to dance to the tune of Bharat iV.  Other car companies have to retune their product as well as price.  Competetion in this price segment is heating up with GP, Ritz, Swift, i20, Jazz, Fabia etc.  Consumer will be king now.   Even used car prices should go down in few months.

There is some good news about FE of GP.  If Australian auto experts are to believed FE is about 20 kmpl for 1.4L engine.  I hope Indian GP can't be that different

in australia, Pundo comes with DualLogic transmission. Fiat says that it will save fuel and is more efficient than Manual transmission. Even with DL, they are clamin only 5.7L/100kms (i.e nearly 16kmpl)

i dont think we will get that efficiency in indian version..

Can anyone suggest which is a better pack among Diesel variants of

Grande Punto, Indica Vista Quadrajet, i20 (diesel variants to be launched) and Swift Dzire.  Safety (on top of the list), build quality, ride comfort, performance, fuel efficiency, durability etc are the criterion.

It's quite likely that no one amongst us may have test-driven Punto (I haven't). i20 diesel is not launched.  Broadly speaking, Punto, Vista & Swift have the same engine/performance.  Mileage would differ a little on account of size/weight of the cars.  Build-quality & durability of Punto is better than Vista & Swift - the same would apply to ride-quality (after Punto, Vista has better than Swift).  i20 (current/petrol) has very good build-quality, durability & ride-quality.

There is no clear picture when i20 diesel will be launched and what will be the price, except sometime in 2009.  But if they put 1.5 CRDI engine and make the price right, it will be a winnng combination in this segment.  Pankaj has aleady mentioned about other qualities of i20.  To get a feel of raw power of CRDI engine, TD Getz CRDI.  Road qualities of i20 is different than Getz.  Getz CRDI did not click much with customers because price is too high, IMO.

Dear Moderator Sir,

Why did the Fiat took more than 4 years to launch Punto in India. Doesn't it shows lack of commitment to Indian market on their part.

don't you think a car cmpany can clone their super hit models from Europe and sell them in India with inferrior quality.

Why did the Fiat handed over the control of sales and marketing to Fiat.

Do you really believe TATA will be willing to sell Fiat's car. Whats the profit of TATA in this.

Sumit, please address me Pankaj (Dear Moderator Sir)

The new/recent launches (pricing-package) indicate how serious & concerned Fiat is about establishing its market in India.  Cars will sell, and service/maintenance will not be an issue. Tata are quite good & have improved a lot.

We may disagree (nothing wrong).
