Dear Mr.Prathap,

Recently I had my bulbs replaced with 100/90 Haogen Bulbs without making any holes anywhere. The Electrician could manage to push the Extra tension wire through the original route and now there is no problem. This was done in Coimbatore. I am happy with the present 100/90 Halogen Bulbs.

I was looking for a good fog lamp;unfortunately I couldn't find any. If I come accross one I will definitely post my comments on that

Dr.Ramanan Earat

You do not have to approach any electrician if you canfind a special wiring harness marketed by 'ROOTS" - the horn people. It is a do it yourself kit

-Xenon-HID bulbs only come in one wattage-35W-so there is NO Hi-beam for xenon-its the temp that changes the range and the color.

-so in xenon we can go for a lower temp and get more spread(as in a hi-beam) or a higher temp for more blue color and reduced range.

-so if for example a 8000K bulb is used in the highbeam refector and a 4800K is used in the low beam reflector the range will be more or less same.

-so in case of Xenon/HID-there is nothing called as HI-Beam/Low Beam.

But what about bi-xenon ?. They give high and low beams? Please explain?

Bi Xenons have a solenoid which controls the position of the filament/bulb(not sure) so as to vary the beams. This is done by altering the focal point of the light bulb. However IMHO, a xenon is best suited for the low beam as the light intensity greatly reduces with range, which is unsuitable for the highway

IMHO = "In my humble opinion"

S = k.I^2, where S is the amount of stupidity a species possesses, I is the intelligence the species has and k is the universal constant of stupidity.

I feel phillips, osram are quite reliable but I have Osram ones in my car. I dont know if phillips sell HID lamps separately but it is better to go for the whole conversion kit.

Hi Friends,

I have two wonderful products to suggest - from my own experience. I have replaced OSRAM Night Breaker halogen lamps with 55/60W for my Getz (No extra wiring, no relays), which gives me much brigher and long ranged beam compared to that of the original one. And for my Santro (for which i have doubled the power to 90/100W earlier and i was using Philips, i had even tried OSRAM ordinary, BOSCH etc) , i have replaced with a German brand recently (will give you the brand name soon) , which gives me much brigher beam and it is very nice to see in low beam which spreads infront of your car! Very much focussed. (just believe, my santro is Zipdrive the old model!) High beam is long ranged  also. Nice experience.

My car is just 3 months old and I have not yet driven it on highway at night being a new driver. Please guide, is it necessary to change it? and also can i get it changed from dealer?

Even I have had many people stating the same thing. The headlamp assembly for I10 is not good for the far range lighting hence not good for Highway driving. Some of them have upgraded to Nightbreaker and HID kits also, but this only worsens the situation.

Finally, we recommended them to upgrade to Hella Bi-Xenon projectors with D2S bulbs. Now, the highway seems to be a cake walk ride for them. The beam produced by the Hella Projectors is intense and Straight with No Glaring at all...
