NOC is required even for transfer within the state - NOC types differ - please read above discussion post 7 onwards.

Check Insurance history for accidents/claims, if any.  Insurance covers the vehicle immediately from the moment it is delivered / temporarily registered.  Also get the car checked from a good/reliable mechanic.

Needless to add, ensure that the papers/documents are valid & enforceable in the name of the seller.

1) There are two ways to do it. Either you check with the insurance company for any insurance claims or you check with the service center where the car was serviced (if it was serviced at authorised service centers and the owner has a record of it).

2)First and foremost thoroughly check the condition of the car from an expert mechanic. Then check with the RTO for the ownership of the car and any offenses/cases against it (if any). If all this is fine then you can go ahead with the car but make sure you get vehicle papers transfered immediately. Also you can check the research tab on the home page of carwale and then check the tips and advice section in it. You will get a lot more idea from there

An accident is generally the result of a screw loose in the nut behind the steering wheel
