CNG conversion of Ford Ikon 1.6 Zxi.

hi everyone.

I have a Ford Ikon 1.6 Zxi (2000) with me, which i wish to get converted to CNG. The car has done 80000 kms.

Please suggest some kits compatible with Ikon and also some of the technicians fitting them

I 've heard that CNG conversion is not suitable for Ikon because of some backfiring problems. Is it true?

Hi Ashok,i suggest you to do sum surfing on internet about the kits available for ford ikon..i suppose only two kits are approved for your car(tartarini & brc)..just go to sum good dealer and confirm about this problem 1st.

Yes, There are kits available for IKON but its not as successful as in any other car. I am not saying that the kits are not compatable- Its like you need the best of the best retrofitters to get a hassle free after installation VFM Drive.

I have seen people visiting their Super Mechanics every sunday as a routine to get there IKON's tuned.

Overall, I would say ask the retrofitters how is Ikon on CNG and dont tell them that you have an IKON back Home.Just tell them that you are planning to buy an IKON.

About backfiring, now there is a solution available in the Market called T.A.P.(Timing Advance Processor)

I am planning to buy ford ikon 1.6 zxi. the car is in good condition and require only tyre set change. as i travel 70-80 km/day. I will not be able to run on petrol so i want to get it converted to cng. till date all are discouraging me for that as they that it is not successful for fork ikon.

kindly advise what should i do or it is just the myth.

In my opinion Cng/Lpg does not go well in Ikon.The ford engines are really complicated.It will always give you some niggling issues.
