Exactly friend, I am in the same dilema, Scorpio or Innova. One good thing in Innova is it has AC vents above so that the person sitting in the third row also gets the full effect of the AC unlike the scorpio

I want to buy either of the two. Scorpio or Innova. But i am terribly confused. Scorpio do has that rugged looks & tall boy factor, but then Innova has much better seating capacity. No matter how tall or short one is, when going on a Higways & doing about 500 to 600 kms, one need to relax & here scorpio is loosing. BUT the bigeest problem Innova has that now every Travel Agency has Innova as TAXI. You'll be stopped at almost all the barriers. Guys please help me out of this confusion.

I did not get this point. Why Innova would be stopped at all barriers. If its a toll booth for all vehicles then anyway you need to stop. If its check-posts for police, forest dept, octroi etc, they will stop you only if you have commercial (black numbers on yellow plate) number plate. Otherwise no one stops you. I do not feel you should worry about it. And your comments make me feel that you like Innova and go for it. These are nothing to worry about... but just a feeling which has no actual existence. Go for Innova.

My point is very clear, when i stated that Innova is widely being used as TAXI, so whether it is a check post or barrier (Not Toll Booth), Innova is being stopped to check for running as TAXi or Private. Mostly travel Agencies run their Vehicle under private Number Plate to avoid State Tax.

I love Innova & want to have one but the fear of being stopped at every check point is not letting me go for it

Thats true. I have driven the Scorpio for last 6.5 years and I remember being stopped only once. I am now looking for a change so decided to go for Innova. Also driving an Innova is much more easy than a scorpio.

Yes it definitely is a hassle if we are stopped each time there is a checking but if we have our papers in order then I don't think it is an issue. I would advice you go for an innova.

Well I have driven my Innova across three states multiple times and I have never, repeat never been stopped or asked for papers. This is my experience over past 2 years.

Thanks for that - very encouraging.

But the problem now is I booked by Innova and was told the waiting period is one month. I have been asked to wait for another month to get it. The dealer says that production has come to a halt due to the situation in Japan. I just hope I get it at least next month!!!

My Scoprio 2.6 LX is now 8 year old. Had maintenance issue from first week (Pass. side door could not be opened because of the door cladding operlap). had to send vehicle 2-3 times to workshop in first 2 months. I was smart enough to buy extend warranty (2+2yrs) also because they had to change lots of parts in the original waranty period. In 4 years they must have changed parts worth 1.5 Lakhs though car spend significant time at workshop & I spend for other service charges , pretty much every thing like transmission to Steering column to Starting motor. I just gave car for 75K km service & got a estimate of around 1.5 lakhs. Average cost to maintain this car is Rs. 50K/yr though I use only 1K/month.

Ever wonder why no Cab cos use Mahindra vehicles? XYLO is 40% cheaper than Innova & Scorpio 30% cheaper still they go for Innova?

Consumers like us go for Aggressive looks & Intial cost without realizing that they end-up paying much more in long run, in addition to time & hassle at the workshop.

If import duties are brought at par with Excise duties & Diesel at par with Petrol, Indian Car cos will immediately shut-down.
