As discussed, BSIII cars will not be permitted registration or transfer/re-registration in Metros/Delhi (from other cities) after March/April 2010.

Bharat Stage III norms will be implemented nationwide from April 2010. Does that mean a person having a BS II car would also not be able to sell it in future or is this applicable to new car sales only?

The cut off date applies only to new car sales and not to second hand cars, your present cars will continue as it is.Alto is not going to get any new engine as the present one is very peppy and fuel efficient and it has no competetion.

All cars that are being sold now, meet emission standards of today. That means they are 'approved'. Taking a car to a different city does not affect anything. If you buy (any) car now, you can take it to Delhi (or wherever you want to) whenever you want (so long as it meets emission health check before registration. And your BS III/II car WILL satisfy, so long as you are servicing it right). The standards are for manufacturers to follow. They don't make life of end user difficult. It's your car and changing national standards are not stopping you from taking it from one city to another.

cheers

Rajendra,   Taking ur car to a different city for a short period of time is one thing and getting it registered in other city is another. I think most of the members are concerned whether the BS-III standard cars will get registered after 2010 Apr.or not. For example , I buy a BS-III car today in delhi and after a year I want to sell it in delhi itself, Will the buyer be able to get it registered in his name???

Yes the buyer can register. BS2, BS3, doesn't matter.

Rajendra , I am being offered a Maruti Esteem 2002 model in Excellant condition at very nominal price. My concern is that, this being a BS-II vehicle registered in delhi, Will I be able to get it registered in Delhi in my name.
