Hi All,

I want to buy a new car. This would be my first car.

My budget is around 4 lakhs. I did a lot of research and found this community really helpful.

My needs would be-

a. Definitely good mileage.

b. Am not a fast driver freak. But don't want my car to be like a bullock cart also.

c. Don't want to go for cars like Santro, WagonR etc as i don't think they are more of a status symbol(I am not talking about status symbol like what a Honda City will provide but still a good enough car will do)

I have zeroed in on these 3 cars and have some reservations and positive points also against them.

1. Indica Vista(Petrol)- I just love its look and all the features that it provides in this range. I would have gone for it with my eyes closed but just one thing stops me for going for it. The fact that its name is Indica and especially in NCR region people associate the name Indica with a Cab only. So that mark of a cab on indica is what making me think twice about it.

2. Fiat Palio(1.1 Petrol)- Love the cars look and shape. Have heard good reviews about its performance also. The bottleneck is its poor after sales service. Have heard that its pathetic and that's why again i have to think twice about it.

3. i10 (Era)- Because of the reservations about above mentioned 2 cars, i am looking at i10 also. It doesn't have the limitations of the above 2 cars(its not a cab and services of hyundai is good enough). But somehow i feel that its really a very small car and expensive for the features that it  provides.

I am really confused among these 3 cars.

Please suggest your inputs. It would really be helpful

personally i too feel the i10 to be overpriced in a way. Indica vista is a good car. you have reservations only about its cab image but then you can at;east one car of each type to be a cab. I have seen corolla, scorpio, and even merc S class (very rare) as a cab. Indica got highlighted coz of the number in which it is plying as a cab on the roads. Again the positive side to this is that it is being run as a cab due to its rugged built(both the engine and the body). SO the cab image shouldnt bother you much. Leave the palio out because it is somewhat sluggish. I10 is a good car with good features and performance. You will get good FE from it as well. It has got better pickup than the vista as well. Have a look at this comparision

Take a test drive before you decide

Hyundai i10 Era is best in these 3 cars though you will miss some features I guess if you will go with the i10 Era.

@ all

Thanks for the useful info. Two of you have recommended i10.

I am looking at i10 Era, as others are greater than 4 lacs and hence out of my budget.

Is i10 era worth buying over Indica Vista?

I guess i10 era don't have their kappa engine?

Still is it good enough to go for it?

Please keep guiding and hoping for more repiles

The Indica Vista offers more over the i10 except for fit & finish and quality issues.  It is actually bigger inside than most of the C-segment sedans.

That said, it does share the 'Indica' name and generic looks with its predecessor - and therefore the reputation as well.  Its a shame really because it is otherwise a very good product and extremely VFM.

The i10 is smaller, but has redefined quality levels in the hatchback segment.  It definitely feels like it belongs in a level higher and this justifies a premium - though not to the extent Hyundai would like you to pay.

The Palio is not a vehicle to be considered in this day and age when you have so much choice around.  I agree it looks good, but its slower than a diesel Indica (normally aspirated, not even the turbo!) so it does not have the go with match the show.  The interiors are also very 'iffy'.

Of the lot, I would recommend the Vista - but considering your penchant for 'status' I guess it automatically rules itself out of contention.  This leaves just the i10 from your list, and I think its a brilliant little car except for the price.

Keep those wheels turning!

performance of the i10 is better than the vista. The only thing to be a bit concerned about is the price and space(if it does matter). Else i10 as a car is good
