Plans to change the wheels to alloy.

Visited the few shops available in my town. Of the available models, I liked this one most. They quoted Rs. 14000 for 4 wheels. They said it includes steel caps for the valves ( I do not know they are that much costly).

Also some one please clarify the difference between Silver machined, Chromium plated and Black Machined which are the 3 versions available for this model. Looks are of course different, but I do want to know the difference in make with pros and cons.

Let me know if the prices are ok as Carwale accessories section gives the price of the same model as Rs 16500 for a set of 5.

As I have not finalised to this model, opinions regarding other models are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Also some one please clarify the difference between Silver machined, Chromium plated and Black Machined which are the 3 versions available for this model.

The three types differ the finish on the alloys.

Chrome-the spokes and hub are in chrome plating-looks very flash-easy to clean but less durable as stone chips can destroy the finish.

Silver-subdued, looks stock-harder to clean, but easier to maintain as the paint can be touched up.

Black machined - the wheel is black power coated-harder to maintain, but the spokes tend to stand out.

Feroz personally did not like the design

Have a look at these

@Feroz, which car do you have? and the color. Is it swift? I've seen the black machined alloys look great on swift black. If it is white the chrome one will look better.

Don't go for the silver machined. they would look like rim covers instead normally OEM for cars come with silver ones. they are easy to maintain but in terms of looks. the other 2 stand out..

my vote is for black machined alloys (u can check some in my album section as well).

Thanks every one for the suggestions.

I was out to Tuticorin officially for a couple of days. So the delay in response.

@Shashank, The car is Swift Dzire in Pearl Arctic white colour.

Binoy, I liked the models from the links provided by you. But there is no reference to the price, brand etc there.

Also I do not know whether they are available at Kerala.

Eventhough my preference is for a near by shop (concern over warranty), the limited choices tempt me to go for coimbatore or kochi. What is your opinion?

It seems black machined is the trend now a days. Am I wrong?

Feroz the links were taken from the Sai Mag official website. Those alloys are available at most shops in metros atleast.

I guess Combi would be a much better option regarding choice.

Black machined are surely in-but the same would soon loose popularity quite soon. Chrome and silver alloys have been present for ages.

Why not consider  white alloys?

Have a look

I liked the white ones. Before seeing the pic posted by you I thought white goes well with red and other dark shades only.

It looks nice. Is it costlier than other makes ? Is white also powder coated? What is its grade as per the maintainance criteria?

Cost would depend on the brand of alloys.(generally the cost is more or less the same)

White is also powder coated on good brand alloys.

Would be high on maintenence-not sure as i dont know anyone running white alloys.

Feroz, if its going to be white, use white sidewalled tyres as well...

Then practice for 5 years, and topple Shashi Tharoor in next elections ! After all he too is a rookie Tongue out
