Which of these two cars should i buy? I am not looking for a big car or for power or any fancy car which might serve as a status symbol. Purely from the point of economy(both initial investment and recurring costs of fuel and maintenance).

Should be small enough for monoevrability in city traffic. A good AC and power steering are a must. Boot space is important though not critical. Leg space, driving and passenger comfort are very important to me. I can afford any of the above two cars.

Power, max speed and style statement are least important to me.

I have shortlisted these two cars and want advise only on these two please.

So would mine - in favour of i10.

Both will return same mileage - 12-14 in city & 16-18 on highway (depending upon driving conditions & style).  i10 has better/more features.  Maintenance cost & service network of WagonR/Maruti is lower/better than i10/Hyundai's - but quite competitive - that should not be the criteria for deciding between the two.

Have a look at the comparison between the two cars - go through the Specifications, Features & All Features.

Binoy, Pankaj and Sri

Thanks to all of you for the advise. so far it seems the opinion is unanimously in favour of I10. I also read a large No of user reviews for both cars. i found that reviews for Wagon R are better. Could be because Wagon R was launched much before I10.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to more objective advise.

Both are good cars. No doubts about it.

Its just that i10 is the better car of the lot. i10 is more fun to drive also.

Do take a TD (with family). That will help you reach a better conclusion.

i found that reviews for Wagon R are better. Could be because Wagon R was launched much before I10.

if you remember the W-R was launched as a MAV (multi activity vehicle). Many people did not like the box shape of the Wagon R. But the shape was outrun by the performance that the vehicle had. The head room is the best in its class. Again that time i10 was not launched. Coming from MS stable it obviously had the advantages of lower maintenance and excellent ASS. Later they went on for a make over. More otions like wagonR duo and the pricing added to the sales. I10 i feel is overpriced. When you pay more, you expect more. That is the reason maybe you dont find that many reviews for i10. But be rest assured it is a good car.

The boot space is not having a major difference between the cars. i10 era has more features as well like tubeless tyres and steering adjustment. So prefer the i10
