There is no need for the same in regular driving as the synchro unit in the gearbox takes care of matching the revs.

Even when synchro takes care of matching revs, it is doing so under duress, and higher reliance on the synchro to match revs for up/down shifting would result in wear there. So don't cast caution to air and be a brute when shifting.

Shift points are generally mentioned in the owners manual. Following the exact same shift points is fun - it lets the driver use the vehicle very smoothly. However, some feel those shift points are excessive. If your driving style is not thay peppy, you could use ~80% of those shifting speeds.

I would suggest... change to 2nd at 10-15, 3rd at 20-25, 4th at 35-40 & 5th at 50-55.  On highway, you may accelerate a little more - especially in 3rd & 4th gear.

Rev matching is basically taking care that the chosen gear allows the car to go at desired speed, at the same time allowing engine to turn at a speed that does not harm the car AND turns out good power as well as fuel efficiency.

Please also have a look at this post for arriving at the shift speeds for your car.

Rev matching actually applies more for the downshifts, even if the revs are manually matched the Synchro unit wont be eliminated and hence there is not much to be derived doing so in routine use.

Using the car in a race would be a different aspect-as the rev matching can be used for enhanced engine braking.

so no need for rev matching while downshifting..just go by speed not by by rpm too?
