This will help (as also discussed elsewhere)...

In the afternoons.... switch-ON the AC > keep the door glasses open > drive for sometime (the hot air inside will blow out faster) > close the glasses thereafter.

Hi All...   A small update to all off you who are facing Problem in there AC.

I guess all the Problem is related to the Cooling.. 2 Days back when i gone to Showroom few more users are complainting for the same & the Engineer from Tata Motors was there he said its due to the Gas & Manufacturing defect. The whole lot of A/C which was delivered was defective. I guess most of them are Quadrajet.

There was Engineer from the Third party who hav provided the A/C Unit even he is not able to solve the Problem.

If you all make Complaint with TATA motors they can help you out as its the manufacturing defect they will change the Entire A/C unit.

One more thing Can you all Update you Chasis No. due to this we can find it out Vechile manufacturing Date. I guess its after Feb 09. You can easily know the Manufacturing date of ur Vechile .............  use this...

Here is how to interpret the Indica / Indigo / Marina chassis & engine numbers :
Chassis Number :
A typical chassis no. is --- 600132CTZP78900.
The first 6 characters are the model code --- in this case, Indica DLE.
The 7th character --- 'C' in this example --- represents the month of
manufacture, according to the foll. table :
A --- Jan.
B --- Feb.
C --- Mar.
D --- Apr.
E --- May.
F --- Jun.
G --- Jul.
H --- Aug.
J --- Sep.
K --- Oct.
L --- Nov.
M --- Dec.
Pls note that ' I ' is not used.
The 8th & 9th characters together represent the year of manufacture, according to the foll. table :
Z --- 0
Y --- 1
X --- 2
W --- 3
V --- 4
U --- 5
T --- 6
S --- 7
R --- 8
Q --- 9
P --- 10
and so on.
In our example, the 8th & 9th characters are ' T Z '. Reversing the order makes it ' Z T '.
As per the table, this converts to ' 0 6 ', or the year 20 06, the ' 20 '
being assumed.
The 10th character represents the Plant location, with ' P ' for ' Pune '.
The last 5 numbers comprise the Serial No. of the chassis.
So, our example no., 600132CTZP78900, means the model is Indica DLE, manufactured in March, 2006, at Pune, having chassis serial no. ' 78900 '.
Engine Number :
A typical engine no. is : 475IDI__03 CTZP12345.
The first 6 to 8 character group represents the engine type, as per foll. table :
475IDI --- Non turbo diesel.
475IDI TC --- Turbocharged Diesel.
475MPFI --- Petrol MPFI.
The next 2 digit number represents the emission norms as per the foll. table:
05 --- BS-2 from Jan 2005 onwards.
03 --- BS-3.
The remaining 9 characters represent the month, year of mfr., Plant, & serial no. of engine, as per the chassis no. tables.
So an engine no. of 475IDI 03 CTZP 12345 will be a non-turbo diesel engine, conforming to BS-3, manufactured in March, 2006, at Pune, & having serial no. 12345.
Now anyone buying a new car can check the month & year of mfr!!

Hi Vijay,

The AC problem is in Safire also.

Good news...my dealer is able to fix the AC problem.

But definitely it is a Manufacturing Defect.

Thanks.

Roy

Wonder if the same is a manufacturing defect or a design flaw?

If the engineer has accepted it to be a defect then the same should be changed under warranty ASAP.

Vijay keep us updated.

Good news...my dealer is able to fix the AC problem.

Can you please elaborate on the problem & how it was rectified.

If it's a manufacturing defect, Tata are under obligation to recall & fix the problem in all the cars sold/delivered - under warranty, as suggested by Binoy.

My car was manufactured in January 2009, It has the AC problem. If the Engineers say it is a manufacturing defect or a faulty design, Tata Motors are under obligation to recall the entire stuff and replace them. This should have been done already, then why are there no advisories? Is it that they are taking the customers fore a ride? Any other responsible company wouldnt have let the matter grow to such proportions. Hope they do something about it soon enough.

Meanwhile, I had given my car for the second service y'day. I may get it back tomorrow. The Service advisor called me today and informed me that the blower fan motor has a defect and will require replacement (asks 15 days time). The CD player HU has been removed and given to Clarion authorised service centre for the second time.

Shall keep you all posted on the outcome.

Hi All,

First of all, many many thanks to all of you for replying.

Saurabh,Vijay,Anil..is there any update of your issues?

My issue was that the power of AC was being cut at a level which is lower than the desired level. The dealer fixed this issue.

Regards.

Roy
