My D’Zire (petrol) is about to reach to 10,000 kilometres run, do I need to:

Ø  Change all the tyres?

Ø  If yes, please give me suggestions

Ø  In suggestions, if you can give more details (technical aspects, availability in Delhi, price, etc. etc.), it will be helpful

I know this section is for Tyres and Wheels only, but since you all now know that my car has clocked 10,000 kilometres, every other technical advices for better, smoother, and safer drive are most welcome.

Keep ypur tyres properly inflated and you won't have to worry about changing them for ~ 40k km, oe tread depth wearing off to 1/16" (yellow strip tread wear indicator showing at two places, or physical confirmation of tread depth).

less than that depth is dangerous in rainy season, where the car could hydroplane (glide over a water film instead of stopping, when brakes are applied) because of insufficient water channels in the tread.

However, Dzire tyres are underspec'ed in stock condition and would need upgrading (read width increase by 20 mm) as per Binoy the moderator.

Well Krishna am sure you are not convinced about the tyre upgrade for the VXi/LXi-LDi/VDi. The simple logic is why the same company would sell the same car model with two different width tyre. Now they would have done a lot of testing and come to the conclusion that the 165 section tyre would be the bare minimum that the car needs and the 185 section would bring out the full performance potential of the car(and hence offered in the top models).

Hi Binoy...thats very true.....

I am going to upgrade my tyre size from 165/80 R14 to 185/70 R14 on my steel rims that comes along with swift dzire VDI model…..

Please let me know whether anyone has done this before and also any specific brand to go for along with the price will be very much helpful. Thanks in advance

Balaji,

You will have to get your steel rims changed too if you upgrade it from 165 to 185.
