Hi Experts,

I am planning to buy a hatchback. I have budget which can be stretched to 4.5 lacs max.(I may have to get loan of 1 lac for 4.5 lac budget though..its ok if car is worth of it)

Following are my finding above above cars:

1. Indica Vista Safire:  Aqua version is in my budget. I like indica for its ride quality and vista is obviously better than previous indica. Not sure abt other aspects though

2. Estilo: Its a Maruti. So ASS and maintanace wont be an issue. No overall problems

3. I10(1.2 Magna): With free insurance and corporate discount I can bag this one at 4.6 lacs in bangalore. But is this extra premium over Estilo justified. I mean I would need to arrange for finance to meet this budget.

Current priorities: 1. Estilo 2. Vista 3. i10

But I am far from the expert when it comes to cars. So Guys..plz help me choosing ideal car for me from above.

Thanks,

Parag

  • Vista is much better than the previous verisions of Indica. Besides it's a true VFM (value for money) car for its pricing vis-a-vis package (interiors/features), and has fantastic space/comfort. It will return mileage of 11-13 in city & 15-17 on highway.
  • Estilo a good car with decent performance  but all in all stands no match with Vista & i10. It will return a very good mileage of 13-15 in city & 17-19 on highway.
  • i10 1.2 Kappa is currently the most successful/preferred car - good engine/technology/performance & build quality. It will return mileage of 12-14 in city & 16-18 on highway.

The priorities should be: i10 1.2 Kappa, Vista & Estilo.

Thanks Pankaj..but is i10 worth Rs 75k more that estilo?

I got quote from dealers:

i10 Kappa 1.2: 4.55 lacs

Estilo: 3.8 lacs

I mean considering 75k diff, I can run Estilo for next 3 yrs for free in the extra cost of i10

Yes Estilo will but so will Alto when compared to Estilo Smile

i10 is worth the difference in the pricing.  If budget is not a constraint, go for it.  After all, you are going to live with the car for next 5-7 years.

Thanks pankaj. it makes sense.

However I was wondering what will be better deal? Vista Safire aura or Vista TDI aqua or i10. I am not specific abt fuel type so diesel will also work. Vista Aqua TDI is priced almost same as i10.

For a normal city driver, 75k represents ~3 to 4  years of fuel. If you are getting all there is except fuel type in Vista Safire Aqua, why are you wasting money in going for TDI? Is your run quite a lot? if not, steer clear of diesel. The premium is not worth it for lower monthly driving sub 1k km / mo.

Between the 2 Vistas, TDi (Diesel) is a better car than Safire (Petrol).  You can consider TDi if your run is substantial & more on highway - else, Safire will serve your purpose very well.

My run would be 30 km/day in City mostly with occassional long highway trips. So petrol is sufficient. But am still confised between i10 and Vista. Overall package i10 is the best..but somehow I like vista more for some unknown reasons. The only thing I worry abt is TATA brand with so many people having bad experiences with indica/go. My friend owns Indica DLS and says after initial few yrs(2-3) car starts making noises and starts vibrating more. Dont know how Vista will do after may be 5 yrs of run.

If the period of ownership is more than 5 years then the resale value will not be a factor, if not the i10/Estilo makes better sense.

if your daily travels make up of 4 people the vista would be a better choice, otherwise the estilo or i10 surely makes sense

Even my dads petrol zen making noises bit after 5yrs..

now New vista is far ahead of old indica in build quality

After 3ys ..3rd to 5th yr we used to get live along with the most of the problems of cars, coz if u sell or exhcange it wont give u good deal, even its most clicked car..we maynot have time to get it repaired and there wil be no warranty and so repair cost wil be high,so we think that lets live with it..

one thing these workshop people will not give good care for your car after 3yrs old, definitely after 4th yr(even maruti),they think its old car.!!...they care more  for their new cars sold very recently to give impressions to those new owners that they are more loyal, so that these new owners get more referrals

we would learn therafter to live in a manner that our car is far more better than our friends car, which rattles more,or give more vibrations..

disclaimer : its all my personal opionon..not discourage new customers
