If i am not wrong previously there would always be an edit button for each and every post made by a user. These days i find it only on the latest post and that too for a limited. There was also a delete buttion to remove a particular post. I wonder why such good utilities have been removed. It was very easy to edit a particular post to rectify any erroroneous message typed in it but now that is not at all possible.I used to find it very usefull, not sure about other usres.I do not know the reason why these were removed but it will be a great help if these utilities can be added again.

Currently the time allotted for 'Edit' is only 10 mins. As that is the time required to review a post.

Also giving 'Edit' for other posts would create a problem as someone would have commented on your post and it wont be right to edit it.

'Delete' button - It can be added to the last post. However, it should also be debated upon.

The "delete' post button will be available only  to the Moderators at this point in time.

Edit has a time limit as Ami has explained.

in that case i would like to being to notice 2 more things. FIrst thing is that when a person replies to my post he uses the reply that is just below to the post and the entire contents of my post come into it. SO even if I edit the post later the contents should exist in the replied post.

Secondly when a person replies specifically to another post he can get the entire post in the reply area which is totally editable to delete/add. You should not be given the access to edit the post given by the previous user. I have seen user using '@ name' of the person who has made the post to mark a specific reply which is a very noble way of doing it. The new user should in no way be able to edit the post of the previous person in his reply. If at all he needs to mention a particular point in the entire post he can copy paste it from the original and then comment on it. These are just suggestions (and not complaints) to improve an already excellent site. Please do no t take it otherwise Smile

The post of others are editable while quoting because the entire post may not be required to be quoted (like quoted by me herein above - for instance).  It, according to me, is a good idea - as far as the contents are not being re-drafted.  I haven't noticed till date any re-drafting done by anyone.  In case it happens, it will be apparently visible from the original post (not editable) - and will be viewed very seriously (to put it mildly).

Suppose Iam typing a post and in the mean time some one else posts his post on the same topic which iam writing. I also post my post and see both the posts similar,I want to delete my post but cannot and i just edit and write didn't see the above post.

thats a bit of problem. just tried to suggest.

Edit facility is available till 10 mins. from the time you post it.  I think that can be used suitably.  However, avoid editing if someone has posted soon thereafter.  In case you still need to edit, please put a edit remark.

Mohit, please provide a valid reason to do so. If the reason is valid and satisfactory, it could be deleted else I would not advise them to be deleted as its part of forums and many would have responded to these posts.

If anything which cannot be discussed in forum let us mods know, either we will give you our mail id or we will call you to discuss the reason. You can believe in us.
