One more question please - Who pays the rent to the workshop in this case? Insurer or Insured?

I'm not very sure but I think rent (not a part of expenses pertaining to repairs etc.) is NOT borne by the Insurance Company.

The same is normally charged (on per day basis) when the vehicle is stationed idly for more than a week (before the work commences). The practice is followed by ASS.  Outside garage seldom charge.

The same is highly negotiable - I'm sure.  I have personally seen a case wherein Rs.3000/- was charged for 1 month.  The person negotiated & paid only Rs.1900/-.  This also indicates that the same has to be borne by the insured, as there would be no inclination for negotiation if the insurance company was to bear it (I feel).

I will see if I can enquire/confirm.

The rent is NOT borne by the Insurance Company (I enquired).

For academic purpose (as I just learned)... Rent is levied only in case of Total Loss, as the ASS doesn't earn anything from repairs.  Besides, it also charges for the estimate provided (this also is not borne by the Insurance Company).

It's our pleasure.

Once you are through with the insurance claim etc., please do share your experience - it will help the forums.
