@Karthe M

Its really ridiculous that you had to pay for 'FREE SERVICE' for no faul of your. Do write to Tata Customer service at their website or Email Id given in the User manual. You can also demand the contact details of Tata customer Service from the dealer you bought the vehicle or got serviced. Dont leave it as its and keep us all informed of the progress so that all gain from the Service of Tata Dealers !!!!

Friends, the trip was nice and fine.

Our trip started with six members.  The trip was about 500kms and I made it in 8 hrs time - with 2 breaks for break fast and lunch & a break for filling up diesel ( FE was 16.25 kmpl with 100% a/c on 100% highway drive )

In metro city traffic I didn't felt hard to handle the car. It behaved so smoothly.  In city conditions 50% and highway 50% the FE was only 14.2 kmpl - 100% a/c.  In return journey, I had to do 700 kms in one stretch with all 6 members.  But it was a breeze all through.  By then the FE was 15.5 kmpl only -95% highway.

Really we didnt felt tired all through the journey.  The whole trip was a fun and no any hiccups.  The a/c doesnt feel good during 11.30 am to 4.00 pm (no any car will be good ofcourse, but this car is below a tad or two than my ALTO.

I have sold my ALTO.

It seems almost everyone is complaining about effectiveness of AC.

@ Karthe, what speed did you drive normally?

Karthe thanks for the update-are the services over?

@Pankaj-the huge glass area of the vista might be a culprit here, also the color of the car might be playing an increased role here(here the roof is black).

Wonder what color Anil's car is?(forgot).

AutoBlid has done a test this month using the new Honda City cars-comparing the effect of car color on the interior temps.

Results-the black color car was 11.6 degree Celcius more hotter than a White color car !!!(yes even i was very suprised with the results).

Oh, that's a big difference - never knew it would be so BIG.

Anil's car is Blue.  Venugopalan's is Red.

I'm soon going to take a test-drive again - in the afternoon & will sit at the rear too.

Red was next hottest to the black.

In the test the order of colors were.(coolest to hottest)

White>beige>silver>grey>red>black.

Binoy,

My car too is of dark colour - Smoke Metalic (Dark Brown/Cadbury).  In the summer afternoons AC does take a little longer time to spread the chill but thereafter there is absolutely no issue.  For instance (recent), Feroz & me traveled to various places in the afternoon (quite hot) - and I did notice that he reduced the blower speed (3 > 2) on a couple of occasions.  The rear seat occupant - his colleague - too was comfortable.  Presently the temperature here in the afternoons is in the range of 42-43 but on the couple of afternoon-drives I have had during the last week, I used the AC/Blower at 3 & then reduced it to 2.

What I feel (therefore)... though the dark cars may take more time to chill (obviously), the 'ultimate' difference should not be so BIG (AutoBlid).

I agree that Vista's AC may not as effective as earlier Indicas - probably because of the difference in the size.

So the engineers havn't made a suitable AC for the larger cabin space that the Vista has!!! Guess I have to live with it. Cry

In the afternoons, as discussed elsewhere.... switch-ON the AC > keep the door glasses open > drive for sometime (the hot air inside will blow out faster) > close the glasses (thereafter).

This will help.
