I own a Maruti Alto for the past 2 years and thought of going for a diesel vehicle.  First choice struck me is SWIFT.  While going on to book the vehicle, found the then newly launched Ikon 1.4 TDCi.  Was very much impressed with its performance.  Then a friend of mine insisted again & again to test drive Indica Vista.  I didn't had good idea about Indica.  But on my friends compulsion I took a test drive of quadrajet (as it is the same engine as swift).  First thing to strike me is the space, then the features filled viz., fog lamps, demister, rear wiper, alloy wheel, blapunkt audio with blue tooth (Blue & Me in Linea) and still on road price less than swift vdi.  Then on test drive, the ride quality inspired me a lot.  Took my family to have a look on three vehicles - swift vdi / ikon tdci / vista quadrajet.  They stood strongly in support of vista.  Then I googled and found reviews in CARWALE and other web sites where I found it okay.  So booked the vehicle last month but due to year ending (financial year) jobs, I couldn't take delivery of the vehicle.  So by last friday 10th Apr 09, took delivery of the vehicle.  The dealer has offered me remote lock, foot mat, mud flap, roots horn and 3m body treatment.  As the dealer was very much busy with displaying NANO, he couldn't help me much in delivery.  But not worse.  With in this week time I have drove 1050 kms and was very much impressed in all aspects of the vehicle. I have changed the 4 OE speakers in the door to components (Lightning audio - imported), changed head light to 90 / 100 bulbs, 3M suncontrol film for windows and rear wind screen, stitched floor mat from front to back in one piece, coir like seperate foot mats, affixed autographix stickers on doors, art leather seat covers, leather steering grip, underchase painting, god idol and perfume.  Now, I am really satisfied with the vehicle and was supposed to take the vehicle for !st service tomorrow.  Am to experience TATA's service tomorrow.

Welcome Karthe to CarWale.  Congratulations for the buy.  Vista QJD is indeed a very good car.  It has great performance, mileage, space/comfort, interiors/features etc. It's a VFM (value for money) car for its pricing vis-à-vis package.

Do keep writing/sharing your experience here.  It will benefit all. Thanks.

That is a nice review. It would look better if you format your post into paragraphs.

Thank you friends. Will try Ami.

The service just had a general check-up & water wash.  Till now cant open the dicky with key and it was rectified.  There was a noise while pressing / releasing the clutch pedal.  The service personnel said it is normal and will go away. Nothing else.

Actually here is a dealer in my near-by town.  Before purchasing, they didn't responded well.  So got quote from another dealer away by 240 kms.  His invoice value is low by Rs.4,000/ and offered some accessories.  Hence I purchased from him.

Now, for the FREE service I went to an authorised service point of the near-by town dealer.  He said that the dealer who sold me haven't affixed his stamp in the service coupon (there is no space for that in the coupon, ofcourse) and hence he can't do the FREE service.  So I told him that I'll pay for the service and he accepted.  After completing the service he didn't agreed to fill in the service details in my manual's service records and charged Rs.386/- I have to save the bill for 4 years (as I have purchased extended warranty).

Not for paying but for the way they behaved, I am upset.  Any where, the service coupon was issued by TATA and why don't his authorised people couldn't accept the coupon. I doesn't get.  Before, with my ALTO, I didn't had any such problem all the 2 years.

SO the PAID FREE SERVICE was done and the vehicle is goodSealed

Regarding audio, I felt the stock speakers are not good and lacked bass.  Hence thought of changing them.  At the same time was not interested to cut holes or to take up the already small luggage area for fixing the speakers. So, changed all the four speakers in doors to component.  The accessory dealer told he has an imported brand - Lightining Audio.  Now the quality is good but he charged around Rs.17,000/- after offer.

3M film is very good. Worth the money.  Even with more glass area it doesn't allows heat inside.  Thinking of fixing in front wind screen too.  But with so much curves, I am afraid could the dealer make it perfect.  They were struck with the front window glass itself and had to use fresh film for left front window.

Will post photos in a day.

Dude,

That looks good. Way to go!!

Do tell us about the lightning audio components you have installed. I guess they would be quite impressive. Adding an amp would do justice to the components.

That 'paid-free service' part is ridiculous.  They should have neither insisted for dealer's stamp on the service coupon nor should have charged you for the service...

All Tata dealers & authorised service stations (ASS) have on-line CRM-DMS (?) system which has records of each vehicle sold & the entire history of service/maintenance carried out (anywhere).  Dealers/ASS are required to update the system.

I guess this was not done/updated in your case. Resultantly you may not have even received a feed-back phone call (from Pune) asking for your views/satisfaction/experience with the dealer/ASS.

I think you need to register a compliant.

Thank you Ami.

The components are really good.  It gives good bass even though it is fixed in the doors.  But does the price I paid is correct.  Till date I have come across pioneer & polk and only ovals.  This is the first time I am hearing about the brand lightning audio.  The accessory dealer too told he is getting this for first time but have installed already in a swift and the output was good.  Ofcourse there is a good change in the audio quality.  Reg amp, will go for it in a month or two.  Which would be good for this combo - 6 speakers in total but 4 are components - gurus.

Yes Mr.Pankaj, I havent received any phone call from TATA.  The service point people had on-line connections.  In the coupon there is no any space asking for selling dealers stamp.  I am worried, because of this will my warranty be voidUndecided.  To whom shall I send my complaint.

With the prices mentioned on the website, the price paid is ok. Plus, you have taken them at the dealer.

Bass would be more tight when you add an amp.

Ofcourse there is a good change in the audio quality.

They are afterall better than the stock speakers. Plus they are components.

A JBL 604/Kenwood KAC8401/Blau GTA4 MKII would do.

I am kinda confused with the speakers. Did you take one pair of co-axials and a pair of components, which makes it 2 mid bass and 2 tweets in the front plus 2 co-axials at the rear.

I guess I am going too much OT. Karthe please create a new thread in the Audio section stating the same. Please click here to create a new thread.
