Venu-dont be confused with Teflon(PTFE-DuPont) and 'teflon coating'!
, Yes, Binoy, I know that Teflon is brand name of Du-Pont. Like we call "Xerox" for photo copies, people generally call Teflon irrespective of brand used. I used 3M solution for coating.

Rohit, Before giving the job, just ask him to show you the brand he applies. Then stand & watch out when he is applying the solution. It should be a good brand like Du-Pont, 3M, etc

On delivery the dealer had done 3M teflon coating for my DZire free of cost.  Can any one tell me whether there is any free service(additional coating) offered by 3M after regular intervals. I had the 3M detailing sticker in the wind screen, but next servicing date is not mentioned there.  I have done my 1st and 2nd free services of car at another dealer.

Feroz, normally they do 1 or 2 free coating within 1 year of 1st coating. Please check with your dealer.

Guys get the product monograph on any of the 'teflon' products that are applied to cars-there will not be ANY Teflon in it.

Teflon(PTFE) was developed by DuPont as a nonstick/low friction application(which apparanty have a smooth look)-the use of 'Telfon' - is just a nomenclature when it comes to car detailing-there is no PTFE in the coat!!

A good washing/rubbing and polishing would be more than enough-than the 'teflon' application.

3M Car Detailing from Dupont is Paint Protection Treatment/s.  The package includes 1 application of UV Protection & 2 subsequent applications of exterior beautification treatments  Like pointed out by Binoy, the word Teflon is missing.

@ Feroz, on getting the treatment done, 2 coupons are issued with recommended date/month for subsequent free applications (preferably 5th & 9th month from the month of 1st UV application).

@ Krishna, I guess the treatment would cost around Rs.2.5-3K for NHC-size of car.

The treatment basically enhances the looks - gives a wet shiny look - that wears-off in 2-3 years of time.

Pankaj, seems there is some misunderstanding... I was asking about the rubbing part only, not the paint protection treatment.

Sorry Krishna for confusing between the two.  Cost of rubbing I'm not aware of.  Hope others post some info.

Krishna, To my knowledge, rubbing is done while re-painting or new painting or repair painting is done. For exterior paint treatment, they do polishing. For polishing, labour charges is around Rs. 200 to 300/- with polishing/buffing machine. You need to provide them with polish (good brand like 3M, cost Rs. 300/-) of your choice. Hand Polishing can be done by yourself also and it may take around 1-2 hours including waxing depending on patience & energy level.
