1)I am  able to get my NOC . I have to fly urgently .

2) Is it possible to get new number of CHENNAI without NOC of JAMSHEDPUR?

3) Is it poosible to continue JAMSHEDPUR Number in CHENNAI?

2) The vehicle cannot be re-registered at Chennai without NOC from Jamshedpur RTO. As your car is hypothecated to Bank, you will require Bank NOC - without which, Jamshedpur RTO will NOT issue NOC.

3) Yes, for temp. relocation not exceeding one year, as, in that case, no re-registration required.  You will, however, have to pay tax, as applicable.

Hi,

I have a Swift VDI '08 which i took on Company lease after suggestions from fellow members of this portal. Thanks !

My vehicle was registered in Kolkata. However i'm now in Chandigarh and have bought y vehicle from the company and have the necessary paperwork.

How should i go about getting the ownership transfer done from Chandigarh ? Can i approach RTO of Chandigarh ?

Need help !

You will need to get an NOC from Kolkata RTO in favour of Chandigarh RTO. For the purpose, you will require to sumbit to Kolkata RTO an NOC from local/Kolkata Police Deptt / LCB, RC Book, Insurance Policy, PUC, address proof of Chandigarh etc.

Based on the NOC so issued, you will have to get the car re-registered at Chandigarh by paying life-time tax, as applicable to old vehicles on depreciated value assessed by RTO (Chandigarh).

Thereafter, you can seek pro-rata refund of life-time tax paid earlier at Kolkata.  Getting refund is, however, a very cumbersome job.

RTO rules vary a little from state to state.  Please ascertain finer details locally.

I would not suggest so, as depreciation is most in the 1st & 2nd year - yours is 2008 vehicle.

The procedure is cumbersome but some good agent can do the job well.  He would charge approx. 2-3K (going by rates in Gujarat/here).

Hello Pankaj,

I have recently come to Kolkata for a Project work (6 Months), My vehicle was reloacted in the first week of March 2010 and i will be going back to Mumbai in the last week of August. I was recently caught by the Barracpure and they asked me for the WB registartion, i informed that i am here only for 6 months and will be leaving in the next 3 weeks. to which they replied that even if you come to Kolkata for 1 Month you have to pay the road tax for a year.

I went to the RTO office in Barracpure and tried to speak to them but they did not listen, they asked me to pay the road tax for a year (INR 12,600) and only then i got my papers & licence back .

Would you be aware on what the rule is if you are going to be in the city only for a few months. ? Do you have to pay the entire 1 year tax ?

Regards

Steven
