Thanks for your agreement

and yes i agree it might not become a market scrocher now even with the price cut, but then if its still there in the market and has such high VFM and Quality, i really dont see a harm in buying it.

Even after two months of test driving each and every hatch back, i could not find even a single hatchback which could beat getz on all departments.

Yes presently there are hatchbacks cars which can beat Getz on the Face value (looks) but then till the time 1400cc engines are available for these vehicals, i dont see them beating Getz in terms of driving pleasure and swiftness.

i.e I20 is better looking that GETZ but expensive and really lacks in power. Pick up is an issue with I20 and Highway overtaking really takes a beating in i20.

Swift is swifter than GETZ, but again, the Ride quality of GETZ, its huge space, interiors, they all make GETZ  better value proposition.

Fabia will really be harsh on the owners pockets, a simple Side view mirror for Fabia costs at 14000 and again with 1200 cc engine is just not poweful enough.

So to sum it up, what if a product has been a moderate success, if you look around, with open mind and open eyes, its difficult to find a better and more value for money product than GETZ.

Sunil, my reservation to your previous post is that you could have included me in the example - I would have settled for any Wink

Jokes apart, a nice write-up / thought-process.  Yes, driving pleasure is not entirely based on the car's power - we seldom utilise it to its maximum capacity.  If other important aspects are decent & more or less same, what ultimately matters is the package as a whole vis-à-vis the pricing.

Like I have said on numerous occasions... All cars are good in themselves > there is always a better car > and there's no end to it.  All in all, one should go for a car that suits his/her budget & preferences well.

@ Aseem, sorry I somehow didn't notice your post above.

Aseembhai,

Getz was the best hatch before the launch of SWIFT/I10 ( i am not talking about the premium hatchs or hyper hatchbacks like I20)

You made a good decision by owning Getz. You can have good nights sleep if u have a product by Hyundais.

Getz might or might not appeal others becuase the priorities/tastes and preferences vary from individual to individual.

Sunil,

I really appreciate your view point, and rest assured any one buying a GETZ would be of the same opinion.

Though, i would also really appreciate if you could mention the points on which i10 is better than Getz and also can u mention how Swift is a better hatchback than GETZ ??

(we can later take this discussion onto the other hatchbacks as well, or else u can refer my previous posts too )

(Please care to read my previous three posts, which give elaborate details as to why GETZ beats the competetion).

Also there is no denying that everybody has a personal taste or priorities but i guess the purpose of this forum is to express and share your experience with the automotives that you have used, so that it can help out othere take decisions. And i am just doing the same, just giving my feedbacks and stating some simple facts and figures, nowhere have i mentioned in me detailed feedbacks that GETZ should appeal to everyone

Its ones own particular choice no doubt, but since i was helped a lot by this forum in taking the correct decesion, i would also try to state some honest facts, based on which and ofcourse on his/her own taste and judgments take a wise decision

True, and in the process all benefit.

Aseem, Getz Prime was one of my shortlisted car when I started looking around for my 1st car 6 months back. That time 1.3 was costing around 5.4 Lacs on road which was the costliest hatch back (excluding Fabia) and beyond my budget. Precisely for this reason, i have not gone for Getz Prime. I think Hyundai had gone terribly wrong with the prizing of Getz Prime and now lately realised and making such good offers now. With discounted prices, Getz Prime 1.3 is a very good car worth a look by all potential buyers for a comfortable hatch back. As Pankaj rightly said , the problem is their own internal competetion with i-10 & i-20 and additionaly from Swift & Vista. So tougher times ahead for Getz Prime.

Venugopalan,

You have made two very correct points:

1: Getz is an excellent car, and should be looked by all potential premium hatchback buyers.

2: There is stiff competion around (internal as well as external)

In complete aggrement with you on first  point ;) and regarding the second point:

My only request/advice/suggestion to all the potential  buyers is that dont just go for something cos its newly launched..

i10 is no competion for Getz in terms of comfort, driving pleasure, space, etc... just that i10 has dual interiors does not make it at par with a premium hatch Getz.

i20/fabia lack so much in power that Highway driving or even flyover  drive is not fun, you feel that you are really short of something,,, and that something is unfortunately power...

What we need to keep in mind is that once inside the car, outer beauty does not matter as much as the driving pleasure (nd just to mention Getz has nice looks anyways.. )

Though there is a difference in the CC, the difference in power/torque delivered is hardly there.  The main advantage with Getz is delivery of torque at lower rpm - giving better roll-on acceleration (without changing to lower gear).

The difference in performance/pickup & driving pleasure exists - but it isn't substantial enough for Getz to be a clear winner.  Other aspects too have to be considered - it would depend from person to person based upon preferences & likes/dislikes.
