@Kumar, Since you have decided to wait for 2 months, you will have a chance to look into Punto Grande.

@Sujit, Fabia per se, is a very good premium hatch. Since it's premium car, service cost also premium. But the problem is very bad attitude & service done by dealers and so many reports of parts stripping and many unsatisfied owners. Please check with few known Skoda owners about the local service dealers & then decide.

better to do with the getz or wait till the new launches

if gone with the getz u can expect some exciting offers from the dealers.  and spend the remaining bucks on accesories.

regarding the fabia. better to avoid skoda unless you are a avid fan of skoda badge.

Post 1000 km of driving the Getz and i am glad i made this choice.

Pros:

1: Excellent Drive: Its a pleasure to drive this car (post the maruti-bumpy-era)

2: Noise less cabin, just no sound at all.

3: Outstanding A/C: 12 Aftenoon in Delhi, and u feel the chill in not more than 5 min.

4: Mileage: 13-14 kM/ltr (75%Highway, 25%In city - AC always On)

(That was my only worry, and i am not repenting on this either)

5: Space: Five people can sit comfortably, driver seat is really spacious as well.

6: Beige (Dual tone) Interiors: Gone are the days of dark grey interiors, the dual tone looks just awesome.

This car beats the competion hands down:

Swift:

Beats it on Looks (Interior: Hand down, Exterior: Can be subjective to ur choice)

Beats it on Space (hands, legs everything down )

Beats it on Comfort, drive quality is awesome, you dont feel the bumbs and rattles that u do in swift.

I20:

Beats it on Power: 1200cc/80Bhp is not enough power for this good looking ship

On the other hand Getz is 1350cc/83bhp and almosst 60kg kerb weight difference.

Beats it on Price: Everything the same, yup looks are better, but do you really want to drive a underpowered ship and pay extra 1 lakh.

Fabia:

Are you kidding me, this is just not worth the hardearned money.

Too little power, expensive initial cost, forget about getting into the A.S.S details.

Belive me Kumar, go for Getz Prime 1.3, you will not repent it.

Its really a value for money in the present Scenario, just shed your inhibitions and go for it.

You will surely enjoy the ride

Kumar,

Please wait for Jazz if you can. This will be the best car in Premium HB/hatch back.

Otherwise go for

Swift: if you have penchant for Power & soft corner for Maruti Cars.

else

I20 or I10 depending on your budget/criteria for space/features etc.

Also try and frame qustion to your self what is VFM in your dictionary if some body talks about VFM. If some thing is cheaper by a lakh need not be a VFM if you are loosing somany features & space at the cost of 1 lakh. Car is not a mobile that you can replace once in a 6months. R u a family man,do you drive more than 80km daily,do you drive in city or hills or Highway? R u a power enthusiast or feature enhusiast?  Do you mind settling for a proven yet older car or some thing new/innovative/style statement/totall new or talk of the town?

If your budget suits Getz then why not I10.

Gather that Hyundai will replace Santo/Getz/Accent with I10/I20/I30 to maintain integration with gloabal market.

@sunil:

i10 is also a winner from hyundai.. but it does not stand a comparison with getz.

driving getz feels like driving a sedan..

also there is a power difference as well between the two, with getz emerging as the stronger bigger brother of i10

even the suspension are better..

its a rock solid car.. i10 is not very suitable for highways also...

there is activity at the Getz website, 2009 models are being delivered to the customers..

all three variants of Getz (GVS, GLS, GLX) 1.3 and 1,1 are on sale.

All colors are available.. there seems to be no signs of it being replaced.

@kumar:

jsut to add on, once you are inside getz, you cant feel much of a difference than i20 (which is arguably the best looking hatchback right now.. but does not have sufficient power to support it).. even the build qulatity of this car is amazing..

yes ofcource it has integrated 2din system which looks classy, but for 1lakh more does not sound a reasonable deal. Just go drive a new Getz prime 1.3, at 4.4 lakh its a steal of a car.

again jazz would be launched at around 6-6.5 lakh and would be a 1200 cc engine..

which is really not enough for driving pleasure and very li'l for higway roads.

at aroud 4.5 lakh getz is a sure shot winner...atleast i am in love with this car after driving it.. and feeling the pleasure at no extra cost at all..

No offence meant... Getz is a very good car but it has not been able to establish it's market like others have (statistically speaking).  Resale too is not so good.

@pankaj:

thanks for ur polite yet to the point response..

the car lost the market due to it being overtly priced initially.

it was almost 1 lakh expensive than swift at the time of launch, which just ate all its competetion due to the price difference and maruti biased indian consumer at that time..

so the pricing strategy went wrong (not the product) and thus hyundai lost the marketing window..

but the current price is a steal..

i know i sound biased and pls forgive me if i sound outrageous in the praise for getz, but believe me this car has tonnes inside it (powerful, refined engine, excellent ride, tonnes of space, nice interiors, and all at such a moderately low cost) to be ignored in the current market scenario.. all the upcoming cars are really short on power.. 1200 cc is just not sifficient for these heacy vehicals...

True, I understand how good it is - I have test-driven Getz 1.3.  Besides, a colleague of mine owns one.  The pricing is now quite competitive but, as you would appreciate, it's late - in the sense, it will have tough time to make up for the market lost - especially against the ones that are equally good cars - a few from Hyundai itself.

This is only for academic purpose.

Most of us grew up looking/using Ambassdor/118 NE/Padmini/Contessa.M800  was like a magic in our lifes during 1982-84. Maruti was the name of the game for alomost a decade. It was the turn of GM/Daweoo Cielo,Honda City,Hyundai Santro/Daweeo Matiz,M.Lancer,Skoda,Chev,Audi etc in that order.

What is this Power PLay? Is there any specific guideline/norms in place for who should go for how much power etc?

Innovation & change is always good for everybody. We can not settle for those old machines any longer. There is a paradaigm shift in the consumer behaviour and  buying power/technology/changing needs/disposable income etc.

Is our roads are going to be the same after continious luanches of various cars? If a 1200 cc engine of a reputed company does't give you driving pleasure what more can we expect? Power & VFM are subjective and depends on individual to individual.

Are the poeple sitting at Hyundai Korea & Germany offices fools to launch 4 vehicles in B segment? Don't they know much about brand cannibalisation? How can they kill their own products by launching more and more in the same segment with a different price tags?

Think about it. Those Koreans are not fools. They want more variants/products in every segment so that they will not loose customers to competition. (for example Aseem will select Getz, I will go for I20, Binoy opts for I10 and Krishna for Santro)

I am sure majority of us commuted by  DTC/BEST/APSRTC buses or Local trains to our colleges/First job etc. Do you think we can under write a car like Jazz much before its launch in India stating that it is under powered/has less driving pleasure. Do we know much about Honda Jazz?

Is driving pleasure entirely based on the car's power?
