If you are not in a hurry then I suggest you to wait for Honda Jazz & Fiat Punto..they are worth looking at once..& to wait for, if not then...

Getz is a reliable car & as mentioned by other you should not have any problem for next 5 to 7 years as its still running in the market...

I bought Getz GVS 1.3 last month. Though they were some rumours(on car forums only) about the phaseout, I still went ahead and bought it as I intend to keep the car for a long time so resale wont be an issue.

Having said that, Hyundai has recently updated the Getz Website(see the colours page)...that is a sign that they are not phasing it out soon. Also in my trips to the Hyundai dealership last month, I saw many Getz being delivered thanks to the new VFM prices. In any case servicing of the car wont be a problem for as long as you keep the car.

The difference in mileage of Getz and i20 wont be more than 1-1.5 kmpl but the initial price difference is huge.

Anyways Getz isnt as old as it is made to sound here, it was launched just a few months before swift(which nobody calls old here).

Aseem, people are saying Getz is old because Hyundai has launched i-10 & i-20 thereafter. After launch of i-20, they started offering huge discounts, which lead to the rumour of phaseout. Whereas in case of Swift there no are no such upgrades to Swift so far. As such Getz Prime 1.3 is a very good car and now it has become VFM

Yesterdays newspapers in Bangalore had a Fabia advertisement with Ex-showroom price as 4.39 Lakh -- Almost 50,000/- reduction from its earlier price!

Has anybody checked this with the dealership pint? If it is true then Fabia is a good buy its onroad price will be around 5.2 Lakh which is quite competitive.

Dear Sujit, I have checked with Vinayak Cars (Dealer for Skoda-Bangalore). Its Fabia Active model with Ex-Showroom price 4.39 lakh, Onroad price comes to 5.30 Lakh who said there isn't enough stock and can't guarantee on the delivery to be soon. As i'm planning to buy car in month of May too. But as discussed with one of the Salesmans' Fabia Active doesn't look to be fare deal. Only if you are a Skoda fan and just want to own a Skoda brand, you can go for it. Folks! correct me if i'm wrong.

Satish, Aseem, venu, Sujit & Prem thanks to all of you for the comments. Yesterday I went to the Skoda Workshop to see Fabia Classic. I didnt like the interior at all. I liked ambient when i took the test drive. I would not suggest to go for active, as apart from airbags this car doesnt have any feature at all. Its just for if you are a die hard skoda fan and have budget constraint too. I checked with the price of spares for the fabia as well, its costly if you compare with indian cars, vailibility also is one of the concern.

As, suggested by Satish i may decide to wait till Jazz comes. But i waas so much excited to own the car asap. Can anyone of you suggest me to choose between getz 1.3 GLX and i20 magna.

Aseem, As you have recently bought getz 1.3, please tell me about the performance and driving comfort of the car.

getz 1.3 is a brilliant car. its a performer where as i20 has tons of features in it. it can even put a d segment car to shame with its features, but it lacks outright power. if u wanna luxury hatch and can shell couple of lakhs then go for i20

hyundai will not phase out getz soon. its selling the new generation accent aka verna, and the accent at the same time. like wise the getz and the i20. verna is the new accent in european countries.

Hi Jagan, I am being specific about Getz GLX 1.3(5.4 lacs - no music system) and i20 Magna(With music system), in getz am getting ABS and alloy wheel with good power, 120 magna is not fully loaded but i felt to give a thought because its a newly launched car, i20 Asta i wont go for as 6.74 lacs is too expensive for me.

What do you feel now?

I am also planning to buy a hatchback car in the month of May. I have zeroed in on Fabia and i20. If Fabia 1.2 ambient model comes with 6 lakh then it’s worth a buy. i20 Asta is 6.7 lakh which is too expensive. Why Skoda spare parts should be such an issue? The car requires service once every 10,000 Km (once in a year for my travel) then 6-8K per year additional over other Indian cars should not pinch us so munch.

Shall I consider Getz also in a premium hatchback category? I have a budget of 6 lakh only.

Sujit, with the same budget i started looking for different options, and i categorize cars in the following manner, (may be it can help you)

1. Fabia 1.2 Ambiente Petrol(6.9 lacs)

Pros- A complete car with brilliant built, nice interiors and stunning looks.

Cons - Apparently little expensive, may be by 30k to 40k.

2.  Fabia 1.2 Classic Petrol(6.18 lacs)

Same as above but with less features(Feature missing like ABS, Alloy wheel) less attractive interior as compared to Ambient

3. i20 Asta

Pros - A complete car in terms of feature, However it put me in a double thinking mode should i only pay this much for the feature because engine is still the same as i10.

4. i10 Magna(5.6 lacs)

i10 magna is not expensive but i20 is known for the feautures and all the feature like ABS, Alloy Wheel, Climatic control AC, Airbags etc. are missing

5. Hyundai getz GLX 1.3
This car is refined and a good performance vehicle. But as it misses the feature if compared by fabia and i20, I surely cannot keep this in premium hatchback category.

I have decided to wait for 2 more months for Honda jazz, then i will finally choose among jazz, fabia & i20.
