How does gearbox in skoda superb 2009 work ?

i just wanted to ask how does this 7-Speed DSG-Direct Shift Gearbox works in the New Skoda Superb, which has been just launched in india, works?

i mean i have a Honda City Automatic in india which has a 5 speed automatic with paddle shifts, which can change the gear manually when put into D(Drive) or S(Sequential Shift) modes, but the Superb has D+,- and S with paddle shifts also. i don't understand..........i mean if u put the gear in + in D mode and press - in paddle shifts, what gear would it change ???

I guess this is a clarification on the Dual clutch gearbox.

The logic is pretty simple-one clutch handles the odd gears(1,3,5,7) and the other clutch handles the even gears(2,4,6).

Now in D mode when the car is in 4 gear the - paddle will bring in the 3rd gear and the + paddle will bring in the 5 th gear.(this is an eg. to illustrate).

ok so this is it, for paddle shift controls there is 1 clutch whereas the other clutch is for D mode gearbox. buttttttttttttt its not coming right obviously the + will go 1 gear up and - will go 1 gear down but the whats the use of +,- in D mode ?(see given links)

There are no separate clutch for the paddles and for the D selector.

They are different ways to use the gear box. In D mode the car is in auto but with manual control by way of the paddles.

oh ok .

then explain how that works ? there would be + and - both in D section and on paddle shifts so wouldn't the system get confused if you change gears like that ? + in paddle shift and - in D mode section so what gear will it take 2 or what ?

How can anyone change the paddle and the gear lever at the same time? !!

Either the driver can use the paddle or change gears using the gear lever-simple.

ok suppose this, you are driving the superb at 1st gear in D mode, want to go to 2nd gear, will you push up 1 level to D + or press paddle to shift 1 gear up ? if paddles was it then whats the use of the + and - in gear lever or if the gear was it then whats the use of paddles + and - ? is it just a matter of personal convenience ?
