Black smoke, only when you take reverse?

I doubt, the car will smoke out black particulates everytime you accelerate. And its normal in case of CRDI engines. The Exhaustive gas recirculation (EGR) system returns the compressed air-fuel mixture back to the engine, due to this, a heterogeneous mixture is created and thats the reason why you can see black smoke escapng for your exhaust. Its present in all CRDI cars. If you disconnect the EGR the black smoke will stop.

So don't worry.

I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!

And don't disconnect the EGR.

That would be the appropriate thing to do.

Also check for the engine oil level(after overnight parking with the car on a level ground). Overfilling of oil can also lead to some such instances.

Black smoke in Diesel cars are normal but should not be visible apparently in normal driving conditions.

Also get the catalytic converter checked/cleaned - improper combustion - fault in EGR Control(?).

i let my linea for the first service, only to be told that the first service is due only after 3000km and not 1500 kms as mentioned on the cover the dealer had given me,a waste of 300 km drive and expenditure and a day,the service guys though did some checking and returned the car with two new scratches on the side doors, how irresponsible???

Oh.. that's sad.  You could have asked them to do the paint touch-up at least.

yes pankaj,

i've asked them to do the paint touch up job, they have promised to do so when the car is given for the next service but the paint is an unusual flamenco metallic red colour, not the usual colour and the touch up job would be very obvious,i was only thanking god, with another ten day old indica car they had damaged the whole front bonnet, when left for service

Ask them to match the colour/shade like it is required to be done.

Don't wait for next service - get it done now - next time they may come up with some excuse.

last week i had left the car for it's official first service(it had already been serviced once for free, when i left the car for service by mistake, thinking it was due then),the experience is good, the people were courteous, the service was done in a time span of about 6 hours, incuding the water service and vacuum cleaning,i was enquired about the service quality by the company from pune and i was asked to rate on 10,for which i rated mostly 9 on 10,the guy promised me that it would even be better in the next service but even this time it was really good
