Dear all,

I recently came across someone advocating for a fuel saver system. Firstly I ignored it considering it as some kind of additive but I was quite amazed at the fact that it is not a system exactly. Instead it's a pair of strong magnets that are supposed to be tied to the carburetor fuel inlet pipe. They say, it ionizes the fuel and thus increases fuel efficiency by up to 28%. I have got a sample of the same for free (costs about 1200 bucks) to use for a couple of weeks.

Just wanted to understand if it is safe to try this system and does the idea of saving fuel make any sense to you guys? You can read about it here.

Hi Banwari - It will be a great product if it serves the intended purpose. Please keep us informed about the peroformance. If a simple product like this can increase the fuel efficiency, then why these car makers are not fitting the same in their cars. It doesn't look like costly also.

The 'magnets' are 'Harmless' and in the same sense 'useless' !!

@Banwari.

Do give it a try over an extended period, like 6months to reach a logical conclusion.

By the way which 'carb' car are you using?

You caught me, Binoy. I don't have a carb car, hence I cannot test it out. I didn't notice the carb part earlier! I will read further whether it will work for an MPFI car or not!

HA HA HA HA Laughing these guys at Max Fuel Saver should get the Booker prize for most creative fiction ever!!!

I would have liked to post a point-by-point rebuttal, but there are available plenty on the net, and the junk is not worth that much of attention.

If something, these jerks should be hauled to court and convicted for fraud. Hope someone does it. Feroz, how about a collaborative effort in that direction... but sadly, there are no returns other than public service for this exercise! Frown

This product does not work, should not work technically. There are no one who are getting that 28% benefit. The testimonials are just made up. They even have a Binoy Thomas thanking them... Surprised

Modern IC engines are very efficient, and hardly 2% or less of the fuel that is injected is left without burning, if at all. Now these geniuses take that 2% of fuel, and get 28% efficiency increase... clearly nobody studied anything other than swindling people, let alone thermodynamics...

I urge all readers to visit the link above and find not only how this gizmo is useless, but find other ways of getting swindled in the name of FE, and protect yourselves!

I have something even better...with it you won't need petrol ever again. Its a rope. Use it to have your car pulled by a pair of bulls and watch your mileage blues fade away...

On a serious note though...I guess a magnet used on the oil pan will help to clean the oil that flows through the filter by attracting the fine metallic (iron) particles that get into the oil (of course its the oil that washes them away) as a result of friction. So less of it is recirculated and the engine stays cleaner a bit longer. Reference: http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html

This makes me remember the umpteem magnetic products offered by  MLM firms, for eg. magnetic beds.

Already there are many cases pending against these frauds. Lucky that Ban got it free of cost. But they would have preached that these magnets are made of metal brought from inner most crest of earthSurprised

Good info, guys. Thanks much.

When I opened the box and found two magnets, I was a little curious. As I mentioned in my first post, I am very wary of the so-called *magical* fuel saving products hence didn't try it without consulting you guys.

@Feroz, if I didn't get them for free, I wouldn't have got them at all. I am not the one who spends for things like these!

Thank you once again. Smile

@Ban, sorry if my words embarrased you, I didn't mean that.

Without even testing the magnets, Iam sure, we can conclude that they are useless. Any how giving a try is not bad to disprove it practically. If it was true, manufactures would have been happy to get it factory installed to woo customers who cares FE.

Thanks Krishna for the link.
