Hello,

I have recently purchased Indica XETA (Jan-2009) and I want to install CNG kit. My confusion is which kit to install. There are many post of CNG kit but I am not getting specific answer and thats why I am writing this post.

Dealer says that I have to fit kit from him only otherwise, Car warrently will be voided.

Dealer is installing BRC CNG Kit which is Sequential MPFI and is costing Rs 68000.

In the market close loop CNG kits are available at max Rs 45500 (Including power booster and Lambda System).  This kit is of Tartarini - Italy

Both, dealer and authorised kit fitter says that their kit is the best.

Both says that Indica Xeta will give averae ar around 18-20 per liter.

can anyone is has installed any of these kit and can share experience. It will be very helpful to me.

Also Why BRC sequential Kits are very expensive as compared to Close loop CNG kits ?

Thanks,

Kiran Suthar

Kiren, I suggest if you can go through this discussion - though not Xeta - it contains explanations on the different types of CNG kits available & its technologies.  Also go through this thread that speaks of Xeta & CNG.

Thanks for the Reply.

I think I should go for Closed loop or BRC sequentical kit.

BRC sequentical is better one but much costly as compared to Closed loop kits.

I am more worried for the warrently of the car. I have purchsed extended warrenty and my dealer says that If I install kit from outside then warrently will be voided. Is it really true? or  dealer is just saying it so that I install it from them.

One post says that CNG is not successful with XETA. Why? Can anyone tell him what problem they are facing with the CNG kit and what type of kit is installed ?

Thanks, Kiran Suthar

in the sequential system, permanent holes are drilled into the engine of the car .. no such permanent alteration has to be made in either the open loop or the closed loop system .. which means that while the open and close loop systems can be removed at any time if need be, without leaving much of a trace .. no such luck in the sequential system

the dealer is armtwisting you into buying from him .. but since you have already bought the car . there is precious little you can do now

xeta has serious electrical/electronic compatibility issues on lpg/cng .. most mechanics are unable to deal with the issue causing much inconvinience and loss to car owners

Regarding warranty... yes, it gets void (if fitted from outside).

What people normally do is, they do not go for extended warranty.  Get the CNG/LPG retrofitment done after warranty expires or after 5/6 months - the thought-process is that any manufacturing defect in the car would surface by then - and for the fact that CNG/LPG retrofitters too extend warranty.

 Thanks Vidhur for the suggestion,
Now I am affraid of your two statement that

   1. In the sequential system, permanent holes are drilled into the engine of the car. and
   2. XETA has serious electrical/electronic compatibility issues on lpg/cng.

I am stuck. what to do. XETA is giving me averate of around 12.5 on highways (With AC on at 60% of total time) and around 10 in City.

I really wanted to fit CNG kit but now I have to think again for that.

Thanks Pankaj for your reply too.

Now as I have already purchased extended warrenty so it becomes total 3 year warrenty and I dont want to get it voided.

Now I am really stuch what to do to make running cost lower.

Regards,

Kiran

Is there any one who has XETA and have installed CNG kit ? (either closed loop or Sequential )

If yes then please give me feed back on it. How it works and what kind of problems you are getting.

Thanks, Kiran Suthar

As far as warranty is concerned, as I have stated before, I reiterate... people get the CNG retrofitment done in 5/6 months (before waiting for the normal warranty of 18 months to expiry) - for the fact that manufacturing defect, if any, would have surfaced during the period (sufficient) & also because CNG retrofitters extend some warranty.

Besides, as discussed in other thread (reference given earlier), despite the negatives, CNG retrofitment on Xeta is quite popular in Surat.  I also understand that Surat has got very renowned retrofitters.  I suggest if have some connection in Surat, you could also enquire therefrom.

Well, this is just a thought in the given situation.

solution to your fear ..

1. avoid sequential

2. find at least 6 months old xeta cng owners at ahd who are happy .. through them find the most reliable professional fitters .. u could also talk to one of the biggest and successful fitters at ahd - rohan automotive .. cost of fitment under 40k .. u will save 30k over what your dealer is demanding .. with this savings already under your belt you could consider risking voiding the warranty if need be .. the huge savings in the long run will far outweigh any loss that may perhaps accrue to you in the future
