hi guys.... I know this is somthing that has been asked a thousand times before. But i would really appreciate some help. M lookin for a music system for my new Swift-VXi. From other posts i think that i shud go for a Pioneer HU & JBL speakers. i really dont hav any technical knowledge about this. i know abt Ovol & round speakers? wats Components? M planing for HU & 4 speakrs initially, then later amps & woofer. Or is it better to go for Rear Ovals & amps, & later frnt spkrs n woofer

It would b nice if som1 can tell prices of Pioneer Hu's 2190, 3190, 4190, 5190. In navimumbai, m gettin 2190 for 6500. wats the difference betwn these HUs as far as later upgrade is concerned?(i mean fitting an amps & woofer later)

Pioneer's 2009 arenot impressive.

GO for pioneer 6050 as you plan for sub & amp.

Speakers front has to be component

Brands-Polk/Hertz/Illusion

YVES LAROCK drew me & da whole Pune in his Anthems.

I would totally second Kartik.

@Uday: Do post your budget.
I would suggest you to ICE it in such a fashion:

Phase 1: HU + front comps

Phase 2: Rear fills

Phase 3: amp(keeping in mind the sub) + damping

Phase 4: mono amp(optional) + sub.

Of the HU's you have listed avoid 2190. Rest all are good enough for future upgrades. If you have good budget then we can look at other brands.

M planning to spend around 13 to 15k now. It seems that pioneer 2008 series is not easily available now. This is what m planning- Pioneer 3190 - 7100(with 2 yrs warrenty-i prefer) Pioneer 3150 - 6000 without warrenty. Front- JBL Comps-GTO 508C - 3400 Rear - JBL GTO 938 - 2950 or GTO 947 - 3700. The shopkeeper told me that 2008-5050 is equivalent to 2009-3190. Any suggestions?

The shope keeper is wrong in his statement.

What you have choosen is quite good.

For the rear the 947 would be overkill as the same would drown the front components.

Also try and get the front two doors damped.

Any oval will drown the front components to a certain extend. The only solution is to amplify(2 channel amp would cost around 3.5K) the front components-leaving the rear powered with the HU.

The Hertz/infinity/polk brands have quite good front 6.5" components.

Also note that 3-way and 4-way speakers(most oval speakers) are a marketing gimmick. Two is the max that the human ear can easily differentiate.

3190 has 2 RCA pre-outs, whereas some other HU's have 3 RCA pre-outs. would this make a difference when i later opt for amps n sub. M really confused about the prices. For the same model 3190 m getting quotes from 7000 to 8800!!! can nebdy frm mumbai help me out? Wat abt SONY HU's??

Pre outs does matter if the plan is to slowly upgrade the system. 3pre outs is the best(again HU's differ by the amount of pre out voltage available-maybe too technical for this setup and can be skipped).

No music aficionado would recommend a Sony Hu-not because they are not good but because there are better products at the same price range.
