I have Gala Red Car. I follow this schedule to maintain the shine of my new car:

  • Wash daily with normal water (not hard) and wipe of with Chamois. Chamois is not the usual cotton wiping cloth. It is a special cloth for cars which leaves no water mark after wiping. Price starting from Rs. 100/- onwards.
  • Shampoo Wash once in a week. I use 3M Car Shampoo. I think cost is around Rs. 250/-
  • Wax once in 4 to 6 weeks. I use Turtle Wax. Cost Rs. 350/-
  • Tyre Foam once in a month. I use STP Son of a Gun. Cost Rs. 500/-
  • Dash Board Cleaner once in 2months. I use STP Son of Gun. Cost Rs. 250/-
  • Seat Polish - I use 3M Vinyl/Leather Polish once in 2 months. Cost Rs. 250/-
  • In addition, I use 3M Micro Fiber Cloth, one for Interior and another for exterior. It absorbs all the dust and leaves no fine scratches.

First 2 activities are done by our society car cleaner. Rest all done by me personaly. All the products are suggested by professional car detailers to mainain the shine/appearance.

Mods: Please move the topic to a suitable section

Washing daily with water may be detrimental in the long run!( not needed).

Hi Binoy,

Please suggest other ways to clean the car instead of daily washing. Because my car gathers lot of dust in the parking area due to construction activities. Dusting with those colourful brushes/cloth is not effective.

Wipe the car with a wet cloth(dipped in water and squeezes) followed by a dry cloth.

Washing the car daily gets undone the effort put in in the 'third step' that you mention in your post.

Moreover its an enviornmental drain and the water tends to accelerate the ageing of the beading and the non galvanised components on your car.

Ami, Thanks for quick answer. btw, the cleaning boy is actually doing the same. Instead of wet cloth, he is using sponge and i/o of dry cloth, I have given him Chamois. He uses max half bucket which includes washing the wheels/tyres. Do you think this is fine?

Mahesh, I have Vista Safire Aura - Gala Red. I bought all these stuffs including Chamois from a good car decor /accessroies shop in Thane. In  Bangalore, you may find many car accs. shops. I think these stuffs are available in Reliance Mart, Metro Cash & Carry, Star Bazar, etc.
