Friends,

Me to agree...Definetly it's not a problem of car.. or design. it's purely of my driving style or mindset.. help me out please..

My company given me a Swift ZXi. and i won i10sportz for last 6months. I have gone long trips with both. I was very comfortable with both of these too.

But i'm literally worried when i am taking right turns with Swift..(Only taking right turns in state roads)

My visibility is obstructed by the ribs on the right side. even @60km/hr speed am not confident...

The side ribs are looking big compare to my tiny i10..

Experts please suggest me...where am doing the mistake?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Arun

Arun,

I must say you are wrong.Wink It is not your problem. It is the problem with the car.

This is problem faced by most of the Swift owners. The A-pillar(Ribs) does block the view. All you have to do is shift your body to have a little better view. Also this needn't much of a big concern. You'll get used to it in due course. I am saying so because my mom learnt driving in our swift.

Dont worry things will be fine with practise. All you have to do is learn to judge the distance.

A-pillar problem. Nothing more. Though I didnt face much of an issue while I was driving the Swift. I never took a U turn also

I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!

I too have faced this problem.

Once, in one of my initial highway trips... while I was about to pass through a highway-cross-road @ 80/85 kmsph, I all of a sudden saw a Honda City crossing over in front of me from the right side at much higher speed.  I had missed it only because of the A-Pillar. My heart almost popped-out while I could barely manage to escape the accident that would otherwise have been absolute detrimental.

Like pointed out by Binoy, it's very important to develop a habit of glancing through the side windows - that's the best remedy – probably the only.

I too felt the blind spot created by A-pillar in my Swift Dzire worst than other cars I drove. Now I overcame it with the practice mentioned by Ameen and Binoy.

Let us expect for a design with transparent A pillar in future!!!!!Smile

New Honda City (I mean NHC, don't know about ANHC) also has this problem - Thick A pillers. One just has to develop the judgement to drive correctly, particularly taking a roundabout - the piller is just where one would be concentrating when turning round a respectable size roundabout. Glancing through the side window and judging the steering is the way to go in such situations...
