Hi Aditi,

The performance of Petrol Fabia is optimised with high Octane fuel thile you can also use unleaded fuel.

Normal fuel is better avoided as per company's statement.

MODS - THIS IS A REPEAT THREAD BY ADITI. PLEASE MERGE BOTH THE THREADS.

I read somewhere in a thread wherein people who incidently used normal fuel were badly affected with the performance of the car. Ultimately they had to flush of the oil tank and then refill again.

A link of this thread is given here but it is a very long thread, though this topic was also discussed somewhere in between.

Can anyone explain the difference of unleaded and normal petrol? Today in all the petrol bunks we get only unleaded petrol.

There is no difference-all petrol sold in India is Unleaded, by law.

-the difference comes in the octane value(and additive) of the fuel-there are high octane fuel available as an alternative to ;normal' petrol.

Wow, Wow, Dont be in such a hurry to ask a question. Never will a engine explode. It does not contain exploding parts. At extreme situations it will stop to function.(Mechanical components dont explode). There is no problem with this high octane fuel. High Octane rating fuel is used only to avoid "Knocking" in a SI(Spark Ignition) engine. Racing cars use this fuel. You can go on using the Unleaded fuel available at all petrol bunks.

Dont get confused with leaded and high octane fuel. The are completely different.

Leaded fuel has been discontinued from across the globe. And Aditi, itrs ok to use normal petrol in Fabia.

Cheers
