Hi all,

I have bought a new SX4 VXi. But i dont like the inbuilt music system. I want to upgrade that:

1. How can get Speakers installed behind the back seat, what I know the plate is off plastic how can I get that cut and install speakers there.

2. What brand and model of stereo would you suggest to replace the Factory fitted system which fills up the space entirely (budget 10k)

3. i have a Disel amp and JBL bass tube so I will get that fitted in.

4. Will changing the stereo kill my warrenty. Since the dashborad will need to be opened.

Please suggest. I am from delhi so I would probably visit Karol bagh to get the fittings any shop name will also be helpful who have prior experience of doing this modification

Welcome to CarWale.

1. Just take it to an experienced installer. He would do the needful. As you have anticipated, cutting would be needed. Dont worry as installations would be neat.

2. There aren't any good 2-DIN's around in that budget. Another option would be to source it from outside. A decent 2-DIN would need 12-15k. Brands - Kenwood. Pioneer - just ok ok.

3. I couldn't actually find the amp. I assume it was a typo and you meant 'Diesel'. Bass tube is fine. It would be adviced to put a small vent in the rear parcel shelf.

I would strongly advice damping.

4. As long as you do a neat installation with proper connectors, you dont have to worry.

You would need a dash panel. That would cost around 2k.

Do thru this link for places. Feel free to put a query there for shops.

---------------------

According to my understanding you would be changing rear speakers, HU. Sub+amp would be added.

In case you have missed, changing the front speakers to components would be good. Also the front speakers has to be changed in any case.

Ok.. In case I do not get my stereo changed I use the company fited can i have my amp plugged into tht ?  I knw it wont give that good sound quality but least i will save some cash and also it wont kill the actual looks of the panel ... plus i can increase the volume out from my amp .. My amp supports various options , Bass Boost , LPF , HPF changes etc.

Yup its 'Diesel' I got that from US .. Its pretty decent with 6ch output but manual settings needs to be done but once done it gives really good out put..

Bass tube I bought for my old car but i dont want to use it thr ne more..

"It would be adviced to put a small vent in the rear parcel shelf." you mean I should leave some open space in the back tray like some hole in between or what.. i actually didnt get what you meant by this thnx ..

"I would strongly advice damping." Sorry my Bad I didnt get this either ...

Whats a Dash panel ? Is it something which I need to place over the 2 DIN stereo to take the left over space after removing the in built stereo ?

Yes ... Actually i will remove the front speakers and tweeters ... As I actually dont like front speakers ... moreover I feel having speakers in the door kills the life of the door ... the vibration kills the door in the long run ..

Also If i get my dash board opened will it kil warrent by ne means ?

thanks

For ur reply

Kushagra,

Please dont 'quote' if you are replying to the last post.

Sound Quality - After market HU would be better than the OEM one. (It doesnt mean that the OEM one is bad). This would have to be driven by budget.

One of the reason why aftermarket HU would be better is because, it offers you better controls. Sad thing would be that you wont be able to use the steering controls.

Small vent - here is a sample.

This will allow your 'BASS' travel easier to the cabin.

Damping - Here is a sample:

fff

ff

This would reduce rattling/Vibration and the audio would sound better.

Note: Damping sheets would be vary in looks, size and cost.

Dash panel: Here is a sample.

1

Notice the portion where the HU is placed. The Darker area is the replacement of the OEM HU. So you would need a dash panel like this, into which your HU would go.

In this example the person has chosen a single DIN stereo.

Another sample done in Civic:

ff

ffff

Note the difference inside the circled areas. Here the colour has been kept intact unlike the first one.

I am not sure about the life of the door & speakers.

Opening the dash panel doesn't void warranty. However tampering with the electricals will.

Dont be sorry.

It happens in the beginning. It has happened for me also in the past and even for others.

I would advice you to change the front speakers to componenents. (strongly!!)

Another tip: You may use the 'Edit' option, if you are posting within 30 mins of you last post.

Component speaker consists of a pair of speakers, a pair of tweeters and a pair of crossovers.

Crossovers splits the sound between the speakers and tweeters.

Hi Ami,

I have an SX4 VXi and i was wondering if i could have the steering wheel replaced with the one from the ZXi variant i.e. with the steering mounted audio controls. I have installed a single din sony xplod music player that i'm happy with and will keep for the future as well.

if this is possible at all, could you advise where i can get this done and how much would i need to pay for this?

Thanks,

Mike
