Checked out the KIIRUS site - seems they are into diesel engines. Also this being a niche field (in India, at least), the prices are quite high - can't say if it indeed is that expensive (20k+ for a low segment car) or even worthwhile. This especially since they have mentioned that the effects are more noticeable in engines upwards of 3 litres capacity...plus they also have a condition that the customers must be committed to using high quality/premium fuels, and also that the fuel must be octane 91 rated...

Yeah, as if someone is going to go to them with a 6.0L pickup truck to get it modded, as it happens in da Yu Ess! Ours is a nation of 600 cc pickup trucks, and they are so NOT interested in modding!

(BTW what is the cubic capacity of a TATA ACE?)

@Topic - IMHO "re mapping" is a bad idea when you have a piggy back or stand alone option. Its best to leave the original company settings alone. Have a little experience with Pete's but I'm not impressed. On the other hand Race Dynamics have launched their range of diesel ECUs starting at Rs. 17, 000. I think its a steal! You even have 4 switchable options. 1. Stock, 2. Economy, 3. Power1 and 4. Power 2. You have a knob on the dashboard can switch between modes ON THE MOVE! Got one instand ed in my Swift VDi. They claim 20% increase in economy and 25% increse in power. Well I'v tested the performance of my Swift and I'm more than happy. Now 0 to 100 km/h is a whole "3" seconds faster in power2 mode and an increse of 5 km/l increase in milage as compared to stock. I can fix and remove the ECU by myself without any hassels. No problems of smoke either. Ther are even standalone petrol ECUs available. So conclude saying re mapping is a bad idea when you have easy access to such piggy back and standalone ECUs. You will have the option to switch to stock whenever you want.

Torquey, that info was interesting... but switch on-the-fly was a bit difficult to digest...

Looking at the results mentioned, it looks like the best of both worlds...

Rachit/Binoy, would there be any side effects?

@Krishna - I meant that you can switch between the economy, power1, power2 and stock mode on the move, as in while still moving in the car. there is no need to stop the car, or switch the engine off or anything as such. Also with just the turn of a knob placed anywhere on the dashboard you like. I'v installed the knob next to the gear lever. Will try to provide pictures. I'm so happy with this, I want to share it with you guys. CheersThumbs Up

Exactly what do you get for 17k? I am paranoid, and never believe anyone quoting with 'from a figure onwards'. Usually, the crappiest option is available at the base price, and the better options are at nowhere near the quoted figure...

For Rs. 24,000 you have stock, economy, power1( upto 10% increase in power ) and performance 2( upto 25% increase in power ). Check this link for more details http://www.racedynamics.in/.
