Well for one, both are properties of an engine. And they are different things - power indicates the engine's capacity to do work, and torque is how much force the engine puts out onto the road via the wheels. Though more power indirectly means more torque, it all depends on the gearing and the engine's power band (i.e., RPM).

Engines develop a maximum power at some RPM and depending on gearing maximum torque at some (other) RPM.
