Hey Vinod, I found something on the so called  'performance' filters on the net. have a look.

So all-in-all, the change from OEM filter to anything 'fancy' would be just that - a 'fancy' change. Better save your money on that one.

Hats off Krishna for poinitng me the website. I will contact him today itself.Cool

Yes, i did copy-pasted the writings from a page as I am a newbie and I am not personally aware whether such modifications makes any sense!!!

All I wanted is to get it reviewed and thanks.. I got some answers finally.. I was about to make the transaction today to their Bankers, but now i called em up and said to hold on for a day.

Still, Some doubts bite my head...... I am a bit afraid of doin engine modifications as it might void the guarantee ..right??

Also, if the filters doesnt make any sense rather than just giving us fancy outluks, then why are there such large companies promoting their brand ??

All I thought is that to put some external fittings which may in turn boost the engine power, mileage, sound and overall look for the car. In such cases, money spend is not a big issue as we can reinstall these on any car we buy. If i want to sell the alto, then i can replace their original parts and sell it and then I can put these to my 2nd car. And if i do serious engine modifications, then one point is that we will lose all the money if we plan to sell the car and if we put this car in second hand market, people will THINK to buy this one, as we have done an 'open - heart surgery'!!! Am i right?

Well hav u ever read thru this page? Well, this gives answer to most of comments Krishna put in.

Meawhile, I called Petes and sadly they offer products only for VIP Cars like, skoda, VV, etc etc. For ALTO, they have Green Air filter (3600), and some gear indicator.-it will not boost the peroframnce, just a show off material, which will show which gear the car is riding in.& they have some air indicator/anti-theft sytem for car tyres.

This post is edited to change font & its size (uniformly) for better readability.

Well, no replies so far.

I decided to try the filter, intake and exhaust in my car. Well I am going to order those today. Meanwhile, chk out the pic of an ALTO engine equiped with cold air intake. I am also sending pic of my ALTO Engine.

The difference i see that, in my engine, the pipe goes to a 'black box' and then to somewhere else, where as in the modified engine, this pipe goes directly to cold air intake. SO if I install cold air intake in my engine, whether I have to remove that black box? whats that anyway?

Sorry, my questions maybe stupid, I am completly novice in this field, I only open the bonet for filling up water to my wiper !!!!!

Also, they just informed me that if i want to adjust the sound with the free flow exhaust, then I will have to buy the auxillary muffler along with the free flow exhaust. Then instead of welding and joining, we can do nut and bolt arrangement in the car. Can anybody put some more light into this?

would you like to convert it to a semiautomatic one. you can

Hi Rajesh,

I was impressed to know that even manual transmission can be turned into a semi-automatic one. But how reliable and safe is this conversion. Can this unit be used as a plug-in and plug-out device whenever you wish...what happens to the warranty of the car...fuel efficiency i am sure will go down a little bit from the manual one...could you share more info on this...

Hi Deka,

As you have started communicating with Rajesh on the semiautomatic transmission, I would like to clarify Rajesh has commercial interest in this product (something not yet clear in the thread, though I have no doubt Rajesh has no issues with this being declared and out of the way.)

As far as my personal opinion is concerned, this mechanism allows you to shift the gear, but takes control of the clutch. Even when this may be reversible (not yet clear), losing practice of using clutch in general is not good - pushes you in a handicap when it comes to driving a 'normal' manual transmission - It will feel odd to use the clutch again.

Also when using the vehicle in odd circumstances - like getting stuck on an incline, basement parking etc - the clutch plays a big role in controling the car and its power. This type of ceding control to the machine is not good for such occasions. You can see this thread for more info.

@ Vinod

-the black box is the std air filter and the same will have to be replaced. What you are aiming for looks something like this(with the filter at the end)

About the exhaust tuning-yes the muffler will also have to be installed-primary aural qualities will lie with the length/dia of the new tail pipe so if possible have a listen to that first.

Thanks Krishna,

Actually I was surprised to hear about the semi-automatic thing for the first time...I thought its a wonderful idea...but then again there are so many ifs and buts....I was thinking maybe it would be useful for my wife if its a plug-in device...The idea of converting a car into manual and automatic as and when required was too tempting...instead of buying another automatic car for my wife...I am pretty comfortable with the manual drive...

But then you can never really trust these devices...I thought it would be another wonderful device like the peted diesel circuit board which doesn't really void your warranty...

Thanks again for the concern...
